I'm just glad Gravity didn't win!

Cate Blanchett was a good pick for best actress.

Same! It probably deserved the awards it got, but no way did it come close to the main ones.

Best movie, actor, actress and supporting roles were all spot on in my opinion. Maybe harsh that Fassbender was up against Leto though because I thought he was awesome in 12 Years.

And HA that American Hustle won nothing. Terrible movie....

I agree, it sucked. How did that get so many nominations when Frances Ha, Before Midnight and Spring Breakers got nothing? My three favourite American films of the year, and I think one nomination between them.

Because your taste in movies isn't the same as 99% of the population. Laughing

Untrue! Well, OK, kind of true, but I'm certainly not alone in my appreciation of those films. Frances Ha got a 93% positive critical response on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.5/10 on IMDb, whereas Before Midnight received 98% on RT and 8.1/10 on IMDb. Spring Breakers was a little more divisive, but those who loved it really loved it.

Compare with American Hustle: 7.6/10 on IMDb and 93% on RT—more or less on par with Frances Ha and clearly not as popular as Before Midnight. So, why did it get so many nominations? The answer is that it had a big studio behind it and thus big lobbying power at the Academy. It's all politics, really.

Wolf of wall st, bloody brilliant, very entertaining, poor old Leo, I thought he should have won an Oscar for the aviator, he was magnificent in that. Actually all his movies, loved catch me if you can and the beach. Not keen on, um, titanic!

I am planning to watch Now You See Me tonight, recently watched and enjoyed Inception, spent most of yesterday watching Saving Private Ryan.

Although I was pretty distracted and it took longer than expected to watch. Wink

It's something I have to live with every day, lol. I'm just glad I managed to fall in love with another member of my 1%. It makes going to the movies so much easier! Smile

We just watched In the Realm of the Senses together last night. Is anyone 'familiar' with it? I wasn't expecting it to be so, er, visual. Shocked

That was rather a lot of red paint at the end. Lola and I were both hoping that we wouldn't have to see her souvenir collection in close-up, though I made the point that it couldn't possibly be worse than Charlotte Gainbourg's effort in Antichrist.

But my god, the egg! Did you see that!? And it didn't even break!
