Older woman who works for me had a day off today. She sent me a couple of texts in the morning to see how I was which was nice of her.

Then in the afternoon I got a text from her that she'd just had a shower and some more detail about how clean she was.

I read the text thinking WTF, I think she may have sent this by mistake, when the phone rang. Yep, she sent me the text by mistake, was meant for someone else and would I please delete it. How Embarrassment.

In between laughing, I assured her I'd delete it (which I did)

I hope she enjoyed date arvo. Wink

First the wash, then the spit and polish later.

The Guardian never fails to deliver. I'm not sure whether this is a sophisticated self-parody of comment-is-free articles, or just the real thing in its purest form:

I don't think men will be complaining if this catches on.

The possible rise in back injuries is a concern though.

lol, ....so a 'person' from a non specific background claiming to be under 18 and self identifying as female can shower with young girls.....what could possibly go wrong....

As is already the case at your local swimming pool. You do get that there’s a difference between a transgender girl – with all the paperwork, therapeutic work and experience of living as a girl that entails – and someone waking up one morning and deciding to be female for fifteen minutes, right?

This is an insidious scare campaign that reflects far more on the prurience (and perhaps, in some cases, sexual fantasies) of those who raise it than anything that actually happens when transgender people use a bathroom or changeroom.

Apparently its not that hard to change gender, just a few forms.
and set to get easier;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/22/changing-gender-set-become-easier-demeaning-medical-checks-reviewed/

what a lot of these campaigners want is to remove medical review and supervision;

however; just scream transphobia and you win the argument, its so simple Smile , it will work until it doesn't

^ Again, not something that people would do lightly. And we're mostly talking about children here anyway (I'm not sure what the involvement of 18-25 year olds is in the Girl Guides, but I'm guessing they're mostly staff?). This focus on showers and toilets – with all the media and public fantasies about male-born trans girls being little more than characters from Porky's; or about there being an army of horny young men waiting in line to spend their days filling out forms and dressing/presenting as women, with all the associated stigma, just to be able to shower with girls – really trivialises the experience of being transgender and the challenges that entails, I think. And yes, I think there's a bit of Freudian projection going on there, too.

Please note that I haven't, actually, screamed 'transphobia' at you. I just think you're greatly overblowing the likelihood of harm and not focusing on why policies like these are actually important and beneficial.

The danger here is that increasingly that medical professionals are being sidelined by the 'activists' and some medical practitioners in the field have serious doubts about preforming surgery on young children.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/world/97443298/more-transgender-people-asking-for-reversal-surgery

an academic was blocked from writing his thesis on the subject

https://www.theguardian.com/education/2017/sep/25/bath-spa-university-transgender-gender-reassignment-reversal-research

what we seem have right now is people like Roz Ward, a Marxist activist attempting to pervert public policy for their political aims.

http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/safe-schools-program-to-be-overhauled-and-founder-roz-ward-removed-20161216-gtctgs.html

Rights activists should not be taking over from medical professionals.

That said; the whole issue is becoming a joke;

This musical number, from the US show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which I’ve never seen – pretty edgy, particularly in the current climate!
