I know a shipload of people older than 52 who like to spend their time challenging themselves physically - good for you and them that's a personal decision - sorry but I'm not overly impressed can't see the big deal myself.
It might be " feel good" but handing out medals for just "participating" is teaching a generation that just participating is enough - it ain't and it sure as hell doesn't teach them to cope when things don't go their way personally or professionally!! |
You do get the it about YOUNG children getting them yeah? In all the sports I know it stops by 8 or 9 then it becomes kill or be killed all around!still got another good 7 or 8 years for them to learn reality before adulthood smashes them in the face!
And it's ok, I don't do runs for anyone but myself, for fun and personal achievement, I'm too fricken old to care if anyone else is impressed

Watching the soccer, Germany vs Brazil. Gees they get a little bump and they look like they are out cold! They could take a lesson from the walker that pooped his pants, or the gymnast with the broken leg! Seriously, a dude just hurt his knee or something and just laid there like he was dead! I thought he was knocked out! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Precious people make me laff. The perpetually seeking to be offended.
Quote: | A QUEENSLAND RSPCA pet store has removed a Julia Gillard dog chew toy from shelves after being flooded with complaints.
RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty SAID the toys had been mistakenly taken out of storage by a volunteer at the Wacol store.
About six years ago we had Tony Abbott and Julia Gillard toys which we sold, he said.
The Abbott dolls sold out, but there were a number of Gillard toys left over, which were packed away in storage.
The RSPCA was hit with criticism on social media, and from several womens equality groups after The Courier-Mail revealed the caricatures of Australias first female prime minister were being sold for $20. |

If the Abbott dolls had realistic ears the doggies are still chewing on them _________________ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” |

Manufactured outrage is so easy to whip up. Wish people would take a breath and actually think critically for a second before clicking on the change.org petition. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
