I think you've got to vary it a bit. Doing the same chant all day gets a bit boring, I reckon.

I think the red flag chant works pretty well some days. And some of the individual player's chants are fun when they go off.

But I suppose you're probably right. Clever chants just aren't a part of the culture of Australian football. Bland wins every time. We've tried to do things a bit different in the Collingwood Cheer Squad over the last couple of years but I don't think it's worked.


I guess we'll just play it by ear at the Preliminary Final. If the team plays well enough the chanting will just happen.

The Grand Final could be a worry. I've heard that Grand Final crowds are as boring as bat-sh!t. Lots of suits and once-a-year types. Could be "interesting" trying to get a response from that lot. At least they'll all be p!ssed so maybe there's hope.
