When a wall of fire like this comes towards you, there's nothing you can do except get out with your life.

At least the temprature is cooler today. I can't imagine what it would have been like last week had the fires come during that run of three 45 degree days in a row.

Our ABC radio should be congratulated, All night they focused on the Fires and road closures. And on air, relayed messages to those still in the fire areas, It was scary listening to the many stories. It only confirms that the CFA are not only heros they are super heros.

Sadly, today when they search fire ravaged homes many more bodies will be found.
In Marysville only one building is left standing..This could be the nations biggest tragedy.
We can only offer our deepest thoughts to all those who have been touched by this extreme sadness.

unless you're affected it's hard to comprehend the impacts on one's life these types of scenarios have.

my brother has a place in woodend and i really hope they don't have to experience ash wednesday mark ii. it's taken all this time - 26 years - for the area to recover.

my thoughts are with all those in the affected areas.

kia kaha.

What a bastard of a continent we live in some times! Some of the worst flooding in Queensland and the fires in Victoria.

Have a look at the first two contrasting videos here.

People overseas couldn't believe it is the same country. All I can say is, thank goodness we don't have the concentration of population of India or we'd be talking of deaths in their thousands through floods and fire.

Joffa what do you know about Marysville? I haven't heard that. As a kid I remember going on annual camps there. An absolutely wonderful place. So beautiful. That news has really hit me personally mate. All those wonderful old buildings gone - lives lost? I'm speechless. Crying or Very sad

And spare a thought for the wildlife.

Unconfiirmed reports on ABC radio last night is that Marysville is all but gone..One building only has been left standing.

Thanks Jock. It's too painful. Marysville is/was one of the prettiest towns in Australia.
