punkologist.... I am sorry... but I just don't get it with Newcastle. Why do you always make such a mess of things? I am not having a go, just trying to empathize with you on a friendly level. It must be frustrating.

It's a health hazard supporting the toon!

Was good in the mid 90s but seems it has just got progressively worse since. We need stability at the club. Until that happens we will continue to fight relegation every year.

Looks like we are going to be owned by yanks. Just one of their portfolio of professional clubs. Can't say I'm too thrilled at the prospect. Theres talk that they will be getting Alan Shearer to manage. Like Buck's at Collingwood, he needs experience elsewhere first. The toon job would be a massive risk for him considering the way fans treat unsuccessful managers on tyneside.

You're correct, having Newcastle as his first job will be a disaster. The man is known as a God up there, if he struggles he will fall off that mantle, its what happened at Spurs under Ossie Ardiles and more recently under Glenn Hoddle. The fact that Hoddle was a magician with the ball didnt mean he could motivate the players and he fell off his mantle. I doubt Newcastle fans would want to look at Shearer and think differently about how they do currently.

Hey Bruno I am also a Chelsea fan and have been for 15 years but lost interest in recent times. I used to watch the EPL show on SBS or ABC every week in high school. Back then Ruud Gullit was manager and my favourite players were Gianfranco Zola and Dennis Wise.

I began losing interest when all the money came along and we had a team full of mercenaries. Many teams are following the same path. Not many true clubmen these days which is a shame.

I still keep an eye on them though.

Trouble at Stamford Bridge?

Now is the time for owner Abramovich to stand firm with Chelsea

IS ROMAN Abramovich looking to sell Chelsea? The club insists its Russian benefactor remains committed to his west London adventure but the possibility of Abramovich moving on was debated at length in certain parts of London on Monday.

I look forward to the back of Phil Scolari.

Someone who hasn't seriously managed in 10 years shouldn't be at the helm of such a big club.

My hope: Arsene Wenger... welcome to the south side of the Thames.

Roddy.... now is a great time to come back on board.

Were you around for the days Paul Osgood??? Good to hear Denis Wise and the Crazy Gang mentioned.

Re. your comment about mercinaries.... excluding Alessandro Del Pierro and Paolo Maldini, every footballer (i.e. soccer player) at this elite level is ultimately a mercinary. It's just the nature of the beast these days. You can't really blame them though!

True Bruno, but you look at guys like John Terry who come through the youth system and clubmen still exist. Jody Morris would have stayed if given more opportunities.

Still plenty of games left this season, the 3-0 loss was disappointing but looks worse on paper. We are still a chance IMO

Terry was born in Barking. How he never made it to the WHU Academy I do not know.

He went to Forest on loan.
