Seems we didn't have a full bench in the VFL today.
we were down a player or 2.
Not acceptable in the under 12's
If so that is a disgrace.
Could someone enlighten us as to what happened.[/b]

So we were short???
Why wouldn't we have a few spares sitting in the stands.
This is an 80 million dollar organisation and we can't even get 22 onto the park.

The VFL doesn't pay much, reckon most players would rather play for their local club than be an emergency for VFL.

There are so many things that aren't working at the moment that you have to wonder what the hell is going on at a club that spruiks itself as the biggest and most advanced in Australia.
If the board and management think that this is just a small issue because we have played extremely poorly to start this season, then they need to pull their heads out of the sand and realise that poor performances and structural or gameplan issues are the core problem.
We have played poorly for too long and even some of our more memorable victories were games that we came from a long way back to win (north last year and bombers a few back).
There's a bad smell around the club and all responsible can deny all they like, but the truth is that there needs to be a thorough clean to get rid of the smell.

And yet they must have known fairly early in the day what was going on? No one they could call and say "hey want a game for Collingwood? A chance to let the big boys see you play?" No one at all who might like that honour? Better to have an empty bench. Shit that's scary.

like who? we have a vfl list that we're restricted to. you can't just pluck someone from nowhere.

In the Heidelberg under 12's the first thing the team manager and coach look at is how many players are on board and if short grab a few from the under 11's.
It is football managing 101!!!!
Any excuse is rubbish at such a high level as Collingwood.
The first job of the Club is to make sure 22 players make it onto the park in both divisions.
Too busy entertaining the Corporates that is the issue.
Heads should role on this!

contrary to how you think it might be run, it doesn't quite work like that. we weren't in a position to call anyone up and you cannot just simply draft someone in who is not listed.

We should have had enough spares left over.
We didn't.
Where was Close and Fergie and the others on the VFL list .
Was every listed VFL player injured!!!!

We were in a position to have VFL emergencies as far as our list depth goes.
A VFL listed player showed up at the beginning of the third quarter to fill out our bench based on a report I saw.
What I don't understand is why the 10 or so unselected VFL listed players were not already there watching the game.
