I have a different theory. I reckon the new rules and interpretations have been brought in to provide a greater 'grey area' for the umpires, so that they can more easily MANUFACTURE the result.
The AFL fixes the comp with the draw, with salary cap concessions, with leniency at the tribunal, you've gotta be naive not to think they do it through the umpires as well.
The whole thing's rigged, and I'm over it

After today - Could be the end of me- this game was a disgrace in decisions. Too many grey areas in umpiring rules - No wonder I am turning to the round ball game VERY BLOODY QUICKLY

So since you have no evidence at all to back that asinine assertion, maybe you should just withdraw the comment and try to keep your posts based on rational premises instead. That would be a good start....

Ok... Dave cant prove what he believes....(by the way Im with Dave on this one) can YOU prove your asinine assertions? and what qualifications have you to berate Dave on his posts....if you could enlighten us on the above, that would be not just a good start but an excellent one....

James, Donlon and Head.
James and Donlon in particular are incompetent germs.
I'll never forget James in the 2002 grand final , absolutely nailed us with that free kick to Lynch in the last , after ignoring Tarrant being scragged by White down the other end. No matter how much he tries act like he is one of the guys , he will always be insipid , and a pus stain on the game of football.

1) I made no asinine assertions. In fact I made no assertions at all.
2) Dave made a positive assertion that umpires bet on games and are therefore biased. I asked him to provide his evidence for that assertion.
3) he couldnt provide any evidence. Therefore he has no positive proof for his assertion. Therefore his assertion is worthless and probably libelous to boot.
4) My qualification for berating Dave for his witless assertion? Well I have a belief that if your gonna make stupid $£$%^%%$ statements like that one you'd better have evidence to back it up or maybe you should shut the **** up.
That's my qualification.

| We probably still would have lost the game but you can never tell what impact the umpires have on our players' confidence and on the momentum of the game. By god I was infuriated watching the game though. |

I just hate that we never had a chance. Did more than half their goals come from either a free kick or from the kick after a free - I think so. Certainly did before the junk time goals. 80 metre penalties - I think the umpires were going to give them a shot at the punt road oval goals at one point - three goals from frees or from the kick after a free - non of which were there - at the start of the third and start of the forth quarters.
I don't mind losing (though it hurts) but we were never meant to win this one. I don't support the conspiracy theories etc etc because I don't think the umpires are good enough to pull anything like that off, but it doesn't stop them doing it to us week in and week out.
Someone critisized our half back line earlier, shucks, every time the ball went there the dons got a free for nothing. They had no chance.
Oh well, some people think it didn't cost us the game, I would have liked to have had a shot - we came back twice and were playing some good footy, and then were destroyed by wrong decisions, free shots on goal and entries into the forward 50, and 80 metre penalties. Watch the start of the 3rd and 4th quarters if you think we ever had a chance.
I couldn't play in that game, I'm just glad non of the players did anything stupid worth reporting (I said worth, Didaks was nothing, though if things continue status quo I'm sure 25 players will be reported when the match review panel gets through with them... no, 25 is not my poor mathematics, it's the blatant cheating of the umpires to report all our reserves as well...)
I'm dissapointed no one can say anything - 1. there is no forum for it and 2. it will look like sour grapes - but then again, people have complained before and it's been crap like this for years.
Oh well, bring on the cricket

Stop blaming umpires for the 'amatuer hour' that is the Collingwood Football Club.
You don't lose a game by 48 points because of umpires. You lose it because you are soft.
The more we blame umpires, the less likely we are to winning a flag. |
