Freo Telecast

According to the AFL website the Freo match on Sunday will be delayed on channel 9 (4pm) and live on Fox (2.30pm). So unless you have pay TV you are unable to watch a live telecast from the comfort of your own lounge. Protests about this decision should be emailed to media@afl.com.au
I have sent them an email asking the following question -
"Was just wondering if you could answer a question for me..... Next Sunday there is only one game on as part of the split round. This game is being played in Fremantle yet in Victoria the match telecast is being delayed for an hour and a half. What would be the reasoning behind this? Surely on a day when there is no football in Melbourne at all, a live match on the television would not be too much to ask?"

I'll let you know what pathetic excuse they have to offer!

What time is the game being played?

All my fixtures show it as 3:40pm EST and the pay tv guide shows the coverage starting at 3:30, but the AFL site has it starting at 2:40pm EST with the broadcast starting at 2:30.

So which is it, 3:40 or 2:40?

Don't get too worked up about it. Last week on the Footy Show Eddie announced that 9 and Foxtel have made some sort of agreement which will see the game being broadcast live into Melbourne.

Just check the guides later in the week...

Wow, this is getting confusing!!

I wonder if the AFL themselves actually know what time the game is being played?!!

According to the Telegraph in Sydney and also the TV week there is no live telecast of the FREO V PIES game to the eastern states.
I dont think that the AFL know what is going on.

Yeah, apparently the game will be live because channel 9 did a deal with FOX.

The AFL website and the offical Collingwood site are both still saying a 4pm telecast on 9, can anybody clarify this deal?

OK, I've just rung CFC and the receptionist said 4pm. I mentioned the Eddie deal thing and she said she had heard something about it but didn't think it had been finalised. I then rang channel 9's football department and they also said 4pm, and had no idea of any deal. She is looking into and will call me back shortly....

Sh*t that was quick! Channel 9 programming are saying 4pm. They claim that what Eddie was refering to was last friday night's game and the fact that it had been moved forward.... cant say I saw the show so cant comment on that.

Soooooo, send those emails into the AFL!!!!!!

The game starts at 1240 WA time.

when 9 show footy at 4pm its usually only a second half replay.
surely they can do better than that.
it is being shown delayed here in WA as well.

My Austar book says 3.30 LIVE....

Channel 9 will do part replay at 4....What a load of effing bollocks.

It's now been a day and a half, I've sent 4 emails, and have got no reply from the AFL..... little wonder i guess.....
