Trivia Question

I was a little bored so I thought I'd pose this to the group.
The three leaders as far as membership in Victoria goes are Collingwood, Essendon and Hawthorn.
I wonder if anyone can tell me when each of these teams last tasted glory on the MCG on that famous 'last Saturday in September'?

Sorry,my mistake - 91 Grand was at Waverley,so must be Essendon 2000,Hawks 88,Collingwood 58.

Essendon ... 1993 (the 2000 GF was played earlier in the month)

Hawthorn ... 1989 (the 1991 GF was played at Waverley)

Collingwood ... not sure ... the 1990 GF was played in October ... the 1958 GF was played in mid-September (I think). In fact, it's possible we may never have tasted glory on the MCG on the last Saturday in September because the season was much shorter in the olden days and may well have been over well before the end of September. If I had to make a guess, I'd say 1953.

Well done Dr Alf. The '58 was on 20th September (2nd last Saturday). The '53 was on the last Saturday. Essendon and Hawthorn spot on!
I'll try to come up with something harder next time!
