MCG Car Park

The finals campaign starts in the Car park for many. What time does the car park open? What time are you getting there? What are your plans? Where will you park? BBQ? How many friends and foes?

Have been trying to arrange a carpark BBQ all season with my footy mates.

Its either wet, or others can't make it.

Will try this week, although being Fathers day, may have trouble getting the numbers away from family lunches.

If I do, we will be somewhere on the North side of the G (i.e. comming from Bendigo).

As a Carpark BBQ virgin, are there any requirements? Can ya pick ya spot? or do the attendants force ya to the next spot?

See plenty af people doing it. Seems like a great idea rather than paying stupid prices for beer and food. Looks all rather relaxing and just takes a little organisation.

Looks like weather won't be great. Do you set up a tarp or anything if its a bit wet? Where do you set up?

No restrictions as its a public park. You can throw down wood and start a fire, but get in early if you want to set up. We take a tarp just in case as it's Melbourne. We normally set up on the Wellington parade side. Also make sure anything left in your car cannot be seen as smash and grabs are full on in finals time.

We normally set up next to Jolimont where the BBq's are this year we are bringing the car in so if it rains we will be covered. There are some great set ups. There are a group of guys who have a bus painted black and white. They have a spit, bbq everything.
