Magpie Greg mate, that is brilliant. We need to remember the absolute thugs that St Kilda mob were in the 70s. And to think Jimmy O'Dea was a copper. Shocked

Don't let the media bs that has promoted the Sainters as a highly skilled outfit fool us. Remember what a mongrel that knob Milney can be (we'll see if the computer censors that one). And don't get me started on Baker - is he back from suspension yet?

Whatever we do Friday night, we must thump the Moorabbin Maulers for the sake of two Johnnies: 1. Johnny Greening - the sweetest most skilled player ever to be taken out of the game through an act of sheer criminal thuggery (lest we ever forget!!!) Twisted Evil and , 2. Young Johnny making a great recovery in hospital from his terrible train accident after the Hawthorn game. Smile

Go Pies!

Thanks MG a great read as usual
Disgraceful act by despicable thug O'Dea
If anyone has a soft spot for St Kilda this is a must read
Their club has its roots set in culture of cheap shots, king hits and dirty tactics.

Greening would have been the greatest if not cut down by this spineless animal. The magpie faithful can be very proud to say that Greening wore our colours.

Remember what Baker did to Farmer Last Year.

That was the Real Sprit of the Aints.

I wonder if Oday belted anyone like that as a Cop?

On Jeans, my family has known his family for decades, my father played in a reserves grandfinal in the 50's with him when Jeans was just a kid (got a photo somewhere).

From what I know of the family I can't believe Jeans had a role to play in the incident but I fully agree that O Dea is a low grade piece of filth.

Lest we forget!

This is why we must win it for John Greening on Friday against the Moorabbin Maulers! Let the pictures tell the story. Notice Johnny is lying flat on his face, and that coward O'Dea can be seen in the foreground walking away as if nothing had happened. Karate chop was Jimmy????
[Optimax: Why don't you include these pictures on Big Footy.]

Back then when it happened, Alan Jeans as the Coach of that piddly Club, said that John Greening probably deserved what he got.

Dunno whether or not Jeans ever took that back Stui, but just maybe he's got a conscience afterall.

As for the Club honouring O'Dea, beats me how that can be justified.

And 10 weeks for almost killing a guy and completely wrecking his (brilliant) footy career is shameful.

Hate thinking about it, really really upsetting, the whole thing.

Thanks again MG . Brings back those haunting memories. John Greening was a gun. To be cut down in his prime (He EASILY would have won the Brownlow that year!), by those low lifes is more than enough reason to hate those thugs. Says alot about the character and make up of a club like St.Blunder to actually honour this turd. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt it brought up that Jeans did in fact instruct O'Dea to "take Greening out" ! There was also talk of some kind of a karate chop used behind the neck/head (remembering that O'Dea would have been trained, self defence wise, being in the Police force/ along with Jeans.) Dont know how true this was but begs you to think that being so knowledgable in the act of restraints and defence/ attack techniques that it MAY well have been used. Its all here say now however, the main thing we must do is NEVER forget one of our fallen soldiers. Do it on Friday night boys, make us proud.
...wonder if O'Dea will ever come clean on the story?

Great Article MG and brings to light an incident many of our younger Magpie faithful dont know about.

A sad day in our long proud History with a young man cut down in his prime.

Thanks again MG.
