Collingwood's Jarrod Molloy, whose broken toe forced him to leave Colonial Stadium on crutches after Saturday night's narrow win over Sydney, will continue playing despite the injury.

Injections before the match and at half-time have allowed Molloy, who spent much of the second half on the bench, to carry the injury for three weeks.

The general manager of football operations, Neil Balme, said yesterday that Collingwood expected Molloy to line up against Melbourne in the Queen's Birthday clash on Monday. "If he's very sore, there's a possibility that he won't. But we would expect him to play at this stage," Balme said.

"They (the club doctors) will review it and make sure they're happy with the way it's recovering and if he can put up with the discomfort, well he'll play."

After reading Nathan's article on the weekend and hearing about Jarrod needing two injections to get through a game - it really is amazing what these guys go through week in - week out, both on and off the field.

Anyone who dares call an AFL footballer a wimp (which I've heard at games from a minority of our own supporters when we've been losing) obviously has no idea AT ALL what our current footballers endure. In fact I'd like to put them out on the ground, with a footy in their hand, and have Pebbles, Bucks, Clemo and Macca run straight at them - just a little different to sitting in the stands with a stubbie and pie in their hands!

Well done to our boys - you're all inspirational!

GO PIES!
Marg
