Post subject: Good Omen for the PIES | |
|
I have noticed over the past 4-5 weeks that the wild native birds, namely the MAGPIES have been frequenting my home. The little buggers just love a bit of mince being thrown around so that they can scavange around and have a free feed.
I think that at present I am feeding about 3 families and it isnt even breeding season yet.
I recon that this is a good omen,as this time last year there wasnt a magpie to be seen.
Aint they great little birds.

geez you're brave mate! much as I like the magpie as the icon of our club, I'm not so sure about the live variety. many a time I've had to run for cover during the mating season when the buggers would swoop on me and try to peck at my head
"..we flew at them as a hawk to his prey, passed through them in the disordered state in which they were, separated them into two distinct parts and then tacked upon their largest division.." -- Captain Cuthbert Collingwood, 1797 |

JB - I think you'll find that they swoop during the nesting season.
If they're swooping on you with their peckers during the mating season, its probably coz you have a very attractive head (to a magpie).
Not sure if that's a compliment or not.
