How many ex collingwood captains have gone on to coach the club?
How many coaches have we had that have never played for the club?

Not sure on the first but it would be less than you might expect. Given that we have had less coaches than any other Vic. clubs (helps when one lasts as long as Jock).
Hafey was first outsider, Cahil the second, Mathews the third and Malthouse the fourth I think. I would guess that many of the rest were previously captains. Working backwards, apart from the 4 outsiders, I think it would be Shaw, Rose, Erwin, Wiederman, Rose, Kyne and then I'm vague on pre Phonse.

Neil Mann coached from 72-74 inclusive I think, not sure if he was a club skipper though, I recall Ron Richards coaching a couple of games when Mann coached the Vic side (we had a big win over Richmond in 73 with Ron coaching I think), but I dunno if that counts.
