Dave if you link a site please make sure it is able to be viewed.

You need to register to view it. And I am not really interested to register to view once. I will more than likely never view this site again.

So please a summation would be nice.

Anyway each to their own opinion. I don't hate Soccer, but am not really interested in the sport.

I find it actually amusing that of late, there appears to be some kind of desperate push by the AFL to be in touch with the rest of the world. Recent trips to Sth Africa, pre-season game in Dubai and now Collingwood playing some form of the game in Dublin. Gee if only this waste of money was being put into a sport (football) that would see Australia as a nation grow on the international stage! Oh well I guess it's a way for the AFL to say to themselves and give the public this misconception of "see, we are an international game too!".
I guess as football constantly rises on the sporting landscape both domestically and internationally in Australia, AFL have to try something to fit in to counter the uprising of football. It's a pity that (in Melbourne at least), these silly AFL stories of ventures abroad are shoved in the publics face by the media here! I guess we all should be used to it by now, in that whatever the AFL get up to (no matter how silly), it makes headlines in Melbourne!

I think Melbourne is one of the best cities. However, the main reason why I don't live in Melbourne is I just couldn't put up with all the AFL talk. I would literally go insane listening and reading about that heinous egg-shaped ball code. Thankfully here in Sydney it is rarely mentioned (unless Swans win a few games).

I will be in Melbourne this coming weekend again, great city.

Maybe they hate collingwood. Some times i do think the afl do get some ideas from soccer. I love my afl in winter and soccer in summer so have the best of both worlds.

I don't usually bash Soccer but it is a crap sport compared to Aussie rules.

I grew up playing both and the reason soccer is so popular amongst kids is that its an easier skill set to learn and easier to get a kick, u/8 footy doesn't have structure so u get 36 kids running in a huge pack after the 1 footy.

Although backyard soccer using the tramp as goals is great fun. Laughing

I think soccer fans are really getting ahead of themselves.

The game has been in Australia for nearly 100 years and still plays second fiddle to football and league.

Trevor Grant summed it up perfectly in the Herald Sun the other day when he likened soccer to a teenager....

I have been to WC qualifiers since 1985 and have been to over 300 NSL/A-League games....and not much has changed.

ALL of our good players are overseas, local league is still CRAP regardless of the promotionand beat-up, kids who don't like physical contact are still choosing to play the sport, fans are still fighting with eachother, Les Murray is still a know it all, Crowds are still at similar levels except they are now dispersed among less games and clubs and the game is still run by people who's ultimate loyalties are elsewhere!!!

Premier League Clubs have today unanimously agreed to further examine a proposal that creates a new round of 10 competitive fixtures to be played across the world over one weekend in January beginning season 2010/11.

This ‘international round’ would be in addition to the traditional 38 home and away matches each of the 20 Premier League Clubs currently play.

Soccer fans really need to get over this crap about trying to put down every other sport, they are never going to overtake Australias main sports, its better to co exist alongside than just bash the other sports which could just turn some people off

I prefer to just enjoy them all rather than put any others down (Well other than Rugby, thats just boring, luckily no one watches or cares Laughing)

Well i thought my original answer explained it all.
I support the Collingwood football club. Our AFL game aint anywhere near as great as what many people think it is...it is actually becomming very boring, Nearly impossible to win Premierships, They stuff up the rules at any given chance, Charge bullshit prices for people on welfare benefits, Over priced and crap food. It's actually become a corporate dictatorship with no concern to the people who bleed and live the game....oh boy this is exhausting shall i go on ?
