I have notice lately that Respect for Other People have left the Younger Generation Espically the Teens, They don't care about anyone but themselves and I don't like it 1 bit.

The teenagers are impressionable. They're the new generation with cash to splash on entertainment. _________________ understanding stuff, with endeavour to overstand.. |

It goes back to the parents teaching there kids family values, and the old "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you".
Respect comes from what you are shown and given.

if you have the time head to this website:
http://www.mccrindle.com.au/
they have done quite a bit of research in understanding the various generations from baby boomers to gen z.
all well and good to label people and making sweeping generalisations but it helps to understand the key drivers and motivations of the likes of gen y to get an idea of what influences their behaviours.
gen y are tomorrow's managers and some are in those roles now. gen z know only a world with everything at their fingertips. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

I really think this sort of nostalgic crap is a bit silly. I'm confident that any set of adults in any period of human history would be saying the same thing about their children.
On the other hand, the material difference that the internet has made to our lives WILL affect the lives of those brought up with it, but I don't think bad manners has anything to do with that difference. One example is that the internet and computers might have made us all a bit lazier and a bit more anti-social due to having access to knowledge and entertainment so easily.
But that's hard to assert/prove, given that lots of people still don't have computers or the internet, while others use it in completely varying ways.
I just think these generational stereotypes are complete nonsense. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks... - Eugene Debs |

Well said Kaylene and very true.
Teens are a bit like taxi drivers you see one do a bad thing..well one gets what im trying to say.
The majority of teens are very well behaved and live in difficult times, Parents who fail to deliver a system of responsible discipline are the ones who seem to have problems. _________________ Football is Greatness

While I'm sure there's lots of factors involved, I think one of the biggest is appropriate parental discipline.
I'm sure there are many methods of achieving that, but I think my parents were pretty much on the money with the way they decided to raise us. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Everyone is a shit head when they're 16, most grow out of it, some don't. The latter are the 'problem'!

As a parent to a 14 year old, they certainly are quite demanding. But that probably has more to do with them having so much more available to them.
The amount of technology, internet options etc available to them is quite astounding so to a degree, you can understand why they want so much more. The difficulty, is that you can never quite satisfy their hunger, as such. You buy him a PSP, and he will ask why you havent bought him a PSP2.
However, their hunger for more is a reflection on society as a whole. How many people can barely pay the bills, and yet have a Plasma TV. |

I have 2 young nieces 13 and 15 and male cousin 16 who are all fairly close to me. They have as much respect as most adults I know. As much as I had at their age.
Yes, there are ratbags out there but those who believe this is a new thing are either living in denial or have short memories.
A cheeky little punk throws a party which gets out of control, the media gets a hold of it and turns him into some circus sideshow, feeding a voracious public appetite of 'people not as good as me stories' while do gooders nationwide are calling for his blood. All of a sudden our youth are out of control. Oh, please _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |
