With 2007 ending in such a sensational fashion for Collingwood and finishing with such a bright and promising future, all Collingwood supporters have been eagerly waiting for the 2008 season to get underway.
Without any major interuptions to anyones pre season, every player on the park and with every team starting on level pegging the sky seems the limit.
So what do you and would you like to see happen?

Which Player that has yet to debuted would you like to see be the brightest shining light this year? Why?

Which debutant from last season would you like to see take the next step? Why?

Who would you like to see take the captaincy and who do you think will take it? Why?

Who will lead the goalkicking?

Who will poll the most votes in the Brownlow?

Who will win the Copeland Trophy, followed by 2nd and 3rd place getter?

Which player do you think will cement his spot?

Who do you think may have a difficult year ahead of them?

Which player will make the biggest impact?

Who should we not forget about and may just sneak under the radar?

Which veteran will prove the most important? Why?

Where will we finish on the ladder after 22 rounds?

Who shapes as the biggest threat to Collingwood?

Apart from Collingwood:
Who will win the Brownlow?
Who will win the Coleman medal?

Bryan - as above.

Who would you like to see take the captaincy and who do you think will take it? Why?

Which Player that has yet to debuted would you like to see be the brightest shining light this year? Why?
The obvious answer would be Dawes, but for the sake of the exercise lets say Wellingham, the boy has a lot of class and now a lot of pressure, it would be great to see him show the form and consistency to be elevated, break in and cement his place into the side.

Which debutant from last season would you like to see take the next step? Why?
Its hard to go past Goldsack and Clarke, but I think the two are already playing good footy, they need to only consolidate and improve a little more. The player I would like to see take the next step is Dick, he started well last year. To take another step this year may open up Davis and Didak to play even more in the centre.

Who would you like to see take the captaincy and who do you think will take it? Why?
Its a hard one, Heath Shaw and Thomas are solid leaders with a good media profile, however both seem a little young. Given that, young captains have usually become champions of the game.
Maxwell is an Archer type who gives over and above every week, however he has a smaller media profile.
Do we reward Burns for all he has done? Should we give it to him just for a year, or two?

I think it may be best to give it to Burns, for it to be handed to Shaw or Thomas in a year or two.

Who will lead the goalkicking?
It has to be Rocca for us to maintain and build on last year. Although I won't be disapointed if Travis or Rus kick 65 each. But Trav will be further up the ground and Rus, well Rus could be anything.

Who will poll the most votes in the Brownlow?
Dane Swan showed his polling ability last year, and there's no reason why he can't again, but Pendles will find more attention from the umpires this year.

Who will win the Copeland Trophy, followed by 2nd and 3rd place getter?
Pendles, Heath, Lockyer/Cloke

Which player do you think will cement his spot?
Given that he didnt play a full season last year I think Rusling will put in a big one and keep our forward line dynamic.
While Goldsack and Clarke will continue their development

Who do you think may have a difficult year ahead of them?
Well its got to be Holland and Lonie, these guys need to shake off the injuries this year and tidy up their form. Lonies powering kicks that drive the ball inside the forward line are so valuable and have been missing, while seeing him kicking his huge goals can lift the team. He needs to find that form while Holland needs to re-invent himself again to fine a spot in the team.

Which player will make the biggest impact?
I think Didak was blowing out the cobwebs towards the end of last year and was beginning to own the midfield, after getting over his knee. This year if he keeps fit should dominate the midfield.

Who should we not forget about and may just sneak under the radar?
Not many mentions of Medhurst in the off season.
Medders was really finding his place in the team towards the end of last year, his tackling and ball pressure was very important. He needs to continue that and keep kicking goals.

Which veteran will prove the most important? Why?
It must be Burns, his in and underwork is so important to the team, while now his leadership will matter even more

Where will we finish on the ladder after 22 rounds?
Realistically 12 teams can finish top four at the start of the season, but surprising only four teams ever do.
With some luck and good health we can be one of those 4.

Who shapes as the biggest threat to Collingwood?
The Cats will still be a challenge, while the Lions are going to be a power again.

Apart from Collingwood:
Who will win the Brownlow?
Funny question, most people can't get it right after watching every game of the season, asking it before even seeing the games is that bit harder.
I'll say Simon Black

Who will win the Coleman medal?
Fevola might enjoy a decent kick to him for once and kick a few

So what do you and would you like to see happen?

Which Player that has yet to debuted would you like to see be the brightest shining light this year? Why?

Cam Wood. The Cigar covered the reasons pretty well.

Which debutant from last season would you like to see take the next step? Why?

Shannon Cox. I'd like to see him take the next two steps actually, straight from rookie to matchwinner.

Who would you like to see take the captaincy and who do you think will take it? Why?

I'm happy with Max. You don't have to be the best player, you just need the respect and esteem of the rest of the group. He has it. And he can play at both ends. And he's looking FIT.

Who will lead the goalkicking?

Rusling. This is his breakout year.

Who will poll the most votes in the Brownlow?

Pendles. Could even win it.

Who will win the Copeland Trophy, followed by 2nd and 3rd place getter?

Swanny, Pendles, Dids.

Which player do you think will cement his spot?

Cox.

Who do you think may have a difficult year ahead of them?

Toovey. Delisted at year's end.

Which player will make the biggest impact?

Didak.

Who should we not forget about and may just sneak under the radar?

Lonie.

Which veteran will prove the most important? Why?

Burnsy. Coz he's still a gun.

Where will we finish on the ladder after 22 rounds?

4th. Mick aims for it I reckon. Then one away win and you may as well have come 1st.

Who shapes as the biggest threat to Collingwood?

The Dockers. Awesome list, and some much needed bottle in the form of Mark Harvey, Chris Scott and Mark Johnson. And the Hawks.

Apart from Collingwood:
Who will win the Brownlow?

Stuff 'apart from Collingwood'. Pendles

Who will win the Coleman medal?

Probably friggen Jonathan Brown again.

And Ricky Petterd will win the Rising Star.

Which debutant from last season would you like to see take the next step? Why? Goldsack

Who would you like to see take the captaincy and who do you think will take it? Why? Burns because he is the definition of Collingwood. I think it'll go to someone younger, like Fraser or Maxwell. Its a shame the world operates in such a templated way.

Who will lead the goalkicking? Rocca

Who will poll the most votes in the Brownlow? Swan

Who will win the Copeland Trophy, followed by 2nd and 3rd place getter? Pendlebury, T Cloke, Pendlebury.

Which player do you think will cement his spot? Rusling

Who do you think may have a difficult year ahead of them? O'Bree

Which player will make the biggest impact? T Cloke

Who should we not forget about and may just sneak under the radar? Johnson

Which veteran will prove the most important? Why? Burns

Where will we finish on the ladder after 22 rounds? 3rd

Who shapes as the biggest threat to Collingwood? Geelong, WCE

Apart from Collingwood:
Who will win the Brownlow? Judd
Who will win the Coleman medal?
Fevola

Which Player that has yet to debuted would you like to see be the brightest shining light this year? Why?
Nathan Brown. Big wraps on this kid prior to being drafted, and the one game ive seen him play in the seniors (1st Nab Cup game last year) really highlighted his backline potential. Despite playing up forward, he approached the game like a backman, playing from behind and always managing to deny his opponent the ball and often get it himself. Not what you want necessarily in a FF, but looked a great FB prospect. Why? Jimmy gone, Wakes going and Presti not far behind.....the time for the Backline that will make up the Collingwood Juggernaut to step up, is now.

Which debutant from last season would you like to see take the next step? Why?
Marty Clarke. Because the next step will send him into the stratosphere.
But seriously though, i think the debutant from last year most needing to take the next step is Cox. Has shown glimpses, but needs to show that he consistently has what it takes this year.

Who would you like to see take the captaincy and who do you think will take it? Why?
Captain Burns SHOULD be the 2008 Collingwood Captain.
But Josh, Maxwell, and Heath Shaw are also strong possibilties. The latter being the most deserving imo.

Who will lead the goalkicking?
Travis Cloke. Possibly Didak. Won't be Rocca. And noone will kick more than 65, but at least 3 will kick over 40.

Who will poll the most votes in the Brownlow? Scott Pendlebury

Who will win the Copeland Trophy, followed by 2nd and 3rd place getter? Pendlebury, Cloke, Shaw, Clarke, Josh, Daisy

Which player do you think will cement his spot?
Rusling or Harry. Both are starting 22 material, but because of injuries last year didnt play every game.

Who do you think may have a difficult year ahead of them?
Wellingham. He has created a rod for his own back getting done DUI, and he will face a very difficult challenge to get himself back to square 1, then on to push for selection. But heres hoping he can do it.
Brodie Holland and Chris Bryan are others.

Which player will make the biggest impact?
hmm. in a powerful kind of way - Travis Cloke will turn games and make his presence felt in more ways than one.
But in a subtler, more cutting kind of way, Didak will make clubs they stayed at home that day.

Who should we not forget about and may just sneak under the radar? Chris Egan and John Anthony...and im not sure if its possible, but with all the hype surrounding Pendlebury, the novelty of an Irish debut as spectacular as Clarke's, and the zero-hero rise of Goldsack, i feel Daisy may have been forgotten ever so slightly by those outside the club. Not saying he's capable of going under the radar, but this year we will see so much more of his game breaking brilliance.

Which veteran will prove the most important? Why?
Probably Rocca. Burns is a better player in terms of consistent impact, and Wakes and Presti will probably be filling roles that we more desperately need filled....but you simply cannot underestimate the value of Rocca leading the competition in contested marks for the last few years running. If you doubt this, watch the North vs Hawks Semi Final where neither forward line even seems capable of taking a contested mark under finals pressure.

Where will we finish on the ladder after 22 rounds?
3rd or 4th. Our run will be controlled and timed. We will not be sucked into playing injured players for short term gain, and because of this, we will lose one or two along the way that we could have won, and this will cost us a top 2 finish. But we will benefit come finals.

Who shapes as the biggest threat to Collingwood?
Hawthorn.
Geelong obviously, but Geelong won't improve much this year (you dont need to improve all that much when youre the premier by a record margin)...but Hawthorn will make massive strides again...as will we.
The Hawks will be our biggest rival this year, and for a decade to come.

Apart from Collingwood:
Who will win the Brownlow?
I have a funny feeling Johnathon Brown might.
Who will win the Coleman medal?
Ditto.

haha cant wait to pull this out ofter round 22 and see how catastrophically wrong i was. Wink

Which Player that has yet to debuted would you like to see be the brightest shining light this year? Why?

~Not much to choose from, as most I rate have played already. Jury's out on Brown, so I'll go with Anthony. Mentally, he has what it takes, and the wheel is sure to turn his way soon.

Which debutant from last season would you like to see take the next step? Why?

~Ben Reid, and he will. Made of genuine superstar material.

Who would you like to see take the captaincy and who do you think will take it? Why?

~Like? Burns or Didak. Jonno third in line.

~Will? Maxwell or Fraser - or possibly Burns.

It's just they way they'll go.

Who will lead the goalkicking?

~Rocca once more.

Who will poll the most votes in the Brownlow?

~Dane Swan or Alan Didak

Who will win the Copeland Trophy, followed by 2nd and 3rd place getter?

~Could be anyone. Cloke for the double, or Pendlebury. Add Reid, Goldsack and O'Bree to the top group, and Burns, if he has another vintage year. O'Brien the bolter.

Which player do you think will cement his spot?

~Ben Reid

Who do you think may have a difficult year ahead of them?

~Brodie.

Which player will make the biggest impact?

~Reid

Who should we not forget about and may just sneak under the radar?

~Shane O'Bree once again. Presti to rise, and Iles might come through, though I'm unsold as yet. He'll be ok, but he needs to make his mark early on.

Which veteran will prove the most important? Why?

~Scott Burns IS our most important player, alongside Rocca. Followed by Shane O'Bree. Burns and O'Bree are so very underrated in terms of the value they provide the team.

Where will we finish on the ladder after 22 rounds?

~Top six definitely, top four hopefully.

Who shapes as the biggest threat to Collingwood?

~Hawthorn, Geelong, West Coast, Port Adelaide, Fremantle (with their act together) and potentially Brisbane (my bolter for the year). Sydney and Adelaide to drop off/just hang in there, North to continue to be thereabouts but never truly threaten, and the Bulldogs to have a shocker. I'm worried that we might be 1-3 after four matches, though. I doubt it, but nevertheless...

Apart from Collingwood:

Who will win the Brownlow?

~I'd have said Black, but others have nominated him.

Damien Peverill or...Mitchell or Goodes.

Who will win the Coleman medal?

~One of Lloyd, Fevola or Brown.
