Normally, nationalities stick together with this sort of thing. However when one of your own is saying that your a serial pest, perhaps there is something in it.
Having gone to numerous soccer and tennis matches myself, there is an element that do go there for one reason and one reason alone. To cause trouble! |

The levels of hypocrisy and irony have hit all time highs in this thread. Racist statements in which people are accused of being racist, illiterate accusations of stupidity, and some of you seem so used to it that you have become immune. It is dangerous.
I was there. The yobbos were as bad as the dudes in blue shirts. The cops overreacted. They are racist too, lots of them.
The whole planet needs to get over nationalism. It is an excuse for ignorance, intolerance, discrimination and violence.

Regardless of whether the "serial pest" misbehaved, the police reaction was completely inappropriate. The cops have no trouble removing badly behaved fans at the footy, the soccer or the cricket without using capsicum spray. Suddenly, in the confined space of a an enclosed tennis court, where spray is much more likely to affect bystanders than at the "G" or Olympic Park, two police officers find it necessary to spray the crowd. My guess is that both the policeman and the policewoman lost their nerve, panicked and forgot their training.
Both force command and the Police Union are busy justifying themselves by referring to the bad behaviour of a handful of spectators. In fact it is not about the badly behaved minority. It is about the fact that large numbers of innocent bystanders had their health placed at risk by the failure of a couple of police officers to act as they had been trained.

They should not have sprayed them I agree. They should have just beaten the crap out of them. That would have been more appropriate and more news worthy. The police are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't.
I was there and stuff the greek gooses, they caused the trouble and everyone of you police bashers seem to forget that. If they did not start their *hit nothing would have happened. |
