What I hate about these hooligan pussies is that they try their shit on people who are just at the event to have a good time. If these guys are fairdinkum they'd get in the ring and take on some blokes who are up for it. But they won't because they're not.

Why Not Frank Stone? Please Tell

On the basis of your argument DTM any person thrown out of, or arrested at a cricket match or a footy game must be either a Croatian or a Greek, because "they are similar"

I think the point out of all this is and it happens time after time after time, is that these migrants or chldren of migrants seem to forget that they are now Australian.

They are no longer Greek, Serbian, Himalayan or whomever and whatever historical political event(s) that caused this ill feeling between them should be left in their respective former countries and not raised at AUSTRALIAN sporting events.

"Ill feeling" caused by "political event(s)" or ethnic tension had absolutely nothing to do with this, so don't use this as a pretext to politically grandstand about "these migrants". Similarly, I don't appreciate the thinly veiled swipes at Greek Australians expressing pride in their Greek culture or ancestry.

The fact I'm Australian of whatever generation changes the fact I am Greek Cypriot and proud of my Greek, Cypriot and Australian ancestry and the fact they chose to make Australia home about as much as the fact I'm Australian changes the fact I am 183cm tall.

Australian law allows me to hold dual citizenship, which I proudly do. You don't lose ties simply because your parents emigrated. I still have plenty of relatives with whom I keep in regular contact. And yes, I follow Marcos Baghdatis, who happened to grow up in the village outside of Lemesos neighbouring where my cousins live. He's also a much better bloke than Lleyton Hewitt. By holding on to these ties, I don't sacrifice anything in terms of what I contribute to the community, or according to any other measure by which how good an Australian I am. So (1) why should you care? (2) why should have a good at us for it?

As for the actual incident, there were obviously a few idiots, but their behaviour was pretty sedate compared to what the average punter pulls at Bay 13, or god forbid the Collingwood CS. Joffa was right to raise this thread for that reason. Innocent bystanders of all ethnic pursuasions were affected by the pepperspray, including a child. The response was by far disproportionate to the behaviour that preceded it. There wasn't a fight or I have been informed there wasn't even any hostility directed towards other supporters.

Criticise hooligan behaviour for what it is, but that's about as far as it should go.

Most of you either weren't there or haven't watched the incident on YouTube or even read the reports of eyewitnesses. Come back when you have. Otherwise shut up.

I'm not saying there aren't any wankers either because I know they are plenty of them. It's the automatic inferences of it being caused by ethnic tension because it involved Greeks that annoys me. The guy who's behaviour started this was drunk off his face. The situation escalated because of the way police handled it. Everything else is just speculation based on the fact it was in a Greek section.
