Good on them for having the guts to do what many of us, myself included, won't.
Love all the water cannons. The Greenpeace guys should get their own cannon so instead of just dousing the bow with water to put off the gunner they could fire a powerful stream of wter directly at the harpoon cannon which would probably have a greater effect.

Just goes to show that stupidity can be realised in many different forms.
On an unrelated note, look at some of the horrible comments underneath the video. One claims that Japanese are savages who rape women. Just makes you shake your head. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

With balls that big there's no need for flotation devices. Oversized 'protectors' are crucial for incoming harpoons _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Yes. Few causes are worth risking your life for, and in my opinion, this one definitely isn't.
This isn't even a question of whether you agree with whaling or not, though. Imho, this video just proves that there's a very thin line between bravery and stupidity. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

It's not actually bravery or stupidity, it's borderline zealotry. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

You're probably right on this issue. It always bothers me that someone can be such a hardcore animal activist or environmentalist when there are BLOODY PEOPLE on this planet suffering similar and worse fates. Very frustrating.
Though I'm not sure if I agree that few causes are worth risking your life for. I think causes are probably the ONLY think worth giving your life for, but it all comes down to whether you would serve it more alive or dead.
Risking as opposed to giving... that's harder to draw the line.... I think there are many cases where we would risk our life to help others without thinking, and that's not something you would want to lose. Whether or not it benefits society that good people sacrifice themselves in that way... who knows. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. Totally agree. This is one of the things that frustrates me so much about organizations like PETA - I don't have any problem with organizations that fight to stop animal cruelty, but you get the sense that if PETA had the choice between saving 100 humans and 100 seals, they'd choose the seals. It's just insane.
I think the only thing I'd risk my life for is someone I love very much, although that is not to say that I wouldn't necessarily do it for a stranger on the spur of the moment - it's hard to know until you've been in such a situation. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |
