So, what does this really mean then?
Quote: | If something is legitimately copied from radio or TV under the provision, it will nonetheless become an infringing
copy if it is later:
• sold, rented or distributed (unless it is only loaned to a member of the person’s family or household); or
• played or shown in public or broadcast.
There is no express obligation to destroy the recording once it has been watched. However, the government made the following statement about the intention behind the new provision:
Whilst the exception does not require immediate deletion of the television or radio program after watching or listening to it, the exception does not permit a person to record a broadcast and keep it indefinitely in a collection of films or sound recordings for repeated use. |
Repeated use would be more than once, wouldn't it?
Part two of my quote is still true. If you record something off the TV in VHS format, you cannot make a copy in DVD format, and vice versa. _________________ Whale

Regardless, do you know in some county in England, if you graffiti a bridge, you can still get sent to Australia as punishment?
There are millions of laws that never get enforced, this would be one such.
I think many, many people download things illegally, it's only the dumb ones that come out and say it though. _________________ Barge |

Never a truer statement has been posted, especially when they do so on a public forum. _________________ Whale

Bah, copyright laws are designed to benefit corporations, no one else. I ignore them at every opportunity, and encourage those who are still undecided on the piracy issue to do the same.
The restrictions on the personal use of music and dvds is an easy way of bringing those who are not overtly political to see that corporations are f@$king evil. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks... - Eugene Debs |

You guys are very, very naive if you think that somebody with money couldn't trace anything we've ever done on the net.
Nothing is private online.
Our strength is in our numbers, they could never try to sue the entire population of people who have downloaded something illegally at some point in their lives. They only really care about major uploaders for the time being, because they are relatively few. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. sherrife is spot on and also we are a nation built by Convicts. Our Culture is to get things on the sly. Next to China per capita population we are the biggest pirates. |
