Do you realise that the law states that you CAN record off the tv, but after watching it once, the copy MUST be destroyed.
It is also illegal to make a copy (DVD) of the source (VHS) if it has already been recorded from tv.

trouble with laws like that, there is no way that it could ever be policed.
worst case scenario (and a ridiculous one at that): the police make a surprise visit to your house and ask you about your home video collection. You say you haven't gotten around to watching them yet. How are they going to prove otherwise?

David, the law is worded so that you can watch something 'at a more reasonable time'. If that time never comes, then so be it, but how stupid would you have to be to advertise the fact you have bootleg copies of anything that you downloaded over the internet?

Well, I don't know... is anyone beating down Dave's door at the moment to take him to court?
I'm no expert on the law, but my understanding is that, illegal copying is pretty much fair game and everyone knows it. Of course, there's always the chance that someone will be used as a scapegoat to scare everyone else (and let's face it, 99% of us probably have illegally copied media somewhere, so they could pick anyone at random), but they've had 20 years to do something like that with copied videos and it just hasn't happened.
I think they'd have to shut down limewire, emule and kazaa and all programs of their kind if they wanted to achieve anything. If they can't do that, it's a losing battle.

I am not the Only One, There was a Thread a Bit ago when other members said they where downloading TV Shows and Movies Through Torrents
