Eastlink artworks. A $1.1m hotel which is only a sculpture plus other odd assortments. Your tolls will pay for this.

What do you want? A beautiful freeway or cheaper roads?

Acting like a petulant little child won't help your cause any.

As to the topic, Art is in the eye of the beholder.
People criticised the purchase of Blue Poles once, now seen as a master stroke

I'd question your definition of "beautiful" there Jock. Just saw them on the news and to me it's a total waste of money.

Modern art to me is summed up by the joke about the painting of the 3 black men one whom has a pink penis.

Art for Arts Sake............

I like it.
And the fact that I will contribute virtually zero over the life of the freeway makes it look even better.

i should have put beuatiful in inverted commas. not my words, they were the pretencious janet holmes-a-court trying to sell the things as a good idea.

i won't be spending a cent on the road anyway.

come to think of it, i kinda liked the yellow peril. remember the kerfuffle all those years ago. where is now? they've moved it on me.

That input matched my default category. Is the holding of hands a symbolic gesture for humans? By the way, do you mind if I ask you a personal question?

the facts are that it's actually a tollway because of the previous Liberal Government and the incompetent contracts that were given to M Train and Connex when they sold out our public transport system (along with everything else that wasn't nailed down.....electricity, gas, etc, etc), and it was because M Train walked away from their contract and the Labor Government needed $$$ to bail out the network.

Considering drivers are supposed to be keeping their eyes on the road at all times... is there really any need to make the freeway look cool?

No problem with art, but perhaps there's better places for it.

Personally, I would prefer a cheaper freeway. I will be using this freeway/tollway quite a bit to get to my holiday home in Rosebud & the sooner it opens up the better! I can't wait to kiss Springvale Rd good riddance forever!

I hope the "art" doesn't resemble anything like that ridiculous, rusty looking walking bridge and surrounding wall over the Hume Freeway. The one between Cooper St and Western Ring road. The epitome of ugly.

I'd prefer they used the money on planting trees and gardens alongside it, something that blends with the landscape

Big art in outer suburbia just doesn't do it for me.
