Lets hope Rudd supports the Kyoto Protocol. I noticed that Al Gore called him recently. And Rudd leaves for Bali. And from the sounds of it the Libs won't block it either. Good to see that common sense is prevailing. If we sign it may add pressure to the US to sign as well. However with Bush in power it may not happen until he gets booted.

Interesting to hear Turnbull's comments about no reasonable person would oppose ratifying Kyoto. _________________ "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. I think when it comes to climate change most thinking people agree we need to act now, it is not something that can be resolved by petty party politics , it needs all of us. _________________ The one man in the world, who never believes he is mad, is the madman. |

If (when) Turnball becomes leader of the opposition, there will be a few heart attacks in the Liberal party.
His views on Kyoto, his views on a Republic.
Interesting times ahead. |

When was the Kyoto protocol first framed/signed?
It is still has relevant as it was back then? Perhaps it is time for some new targets. |

Turnbull was constantly urging Howard to sign it. He's supported it all along. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

There's a meeting in Bali coming up Joel where governments will be developing the successor to Kyoto. The point of ratifying Kyoto even this late is that governments that haven't ratified have no part to play in the new round of negotiations for the next agreement - ie unless we sign we have no opportunity to shape the new agreement. |

I wonder if Hansen knew, back in 1984 when he invented his Global warming theory it would go on to be the biggest scam since snake oil?
The money that is wasted on this theory could feed the starving millions of the world. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |
