Thank you diggers for fighting; In wars both necessary and unnecessary.

Remember the Rats of Tobruk, Remember the "choco soldiers" of Kokoda. Remember them all.

I remember my Great Grandfather (WWII, Hiroshima Clean Up, Korea).

I give thanks to all the diggers from all the wars that have been fought or occupied, especially my Grandfather , Pa, who was in the second wave on Anzac Day in WW1.

The freedom and lifestyle that Aussies enjoy today are because of all of these brave young men.

Thanks you.

Lest we Forget.

Lest we forget.

My Mum's uncle was in Changi during WWII. Came home a very changed man apparently, as did most of them.

Always important to remember the past, to avoid making the same mistakes in the future - RIP to all those who died needlessly and also those who died defending their country. It's easy to feel despair whenever you think about this sort of thing, but at the same time you get the feeling that if we have these days of the year (Anzac Day, Armistice Day etc) to think about the tragic nature of war and its consequences, there's that small chance people will start to be that bit less hesitant to start wars in the future.

Maybe it's idealism, but I believe there is the possibility for a world where war doesn't exist. But that cannot happen while we still fight with, despise, and treat with no respect the other people around us.

We must not only remember the wars themselves on these days, but, perhaps more importantly, the reason why we have these days.
