That is pathetic....the judicial system has some serious flaws in it if that is all that they can come up with for such a crime. I say have the two boys castrated and the others have to front up every 2 days at the victims house for the next 10 years to have her deliever a swift kick in the balls!
This just says to all the other wanker "Z GENS" that all of this is ok if you cry in court and say your sorry....they should have atleast criminal convictions and done some time!

Very hard to argue that they shouldn't get time inside for that kind of behaviour. I know exactly how immature 15-17 year olds really are, even though they look and act as if they know everything and once the "pack" mentallity takes over it's easy to see how things can spiral out of control.
What I heard on the news made me think some kind of deal was cut. Apparently by pleading guilty, that meant that the girl didn't have to take the stand and testify which spared her from what would have been a fairly horrible experience. Even so, you'd think 12 months was warrented.
To put it in perspective, if that was my daughter they had assaulted, I'd be the one in custody.

Unfortunately, we live in a country where the punishment does not fit the crime in most cases. The worst part, is that it caters for the minority that worry more about the criminals rights, rather than the victims.
Its mad where you can beat a person to within an inch of their lives, and get off on a good behaviour bond because it may impact on your employment options.
Or how a murderer can even be considered for parole even after 8-10 years. |

So how many of you sat through the Court case and listened to all the evidence put before the court and then listened to the Judge's summation before coming to a conclusion?

I'm all for rehabilitation, but it's got to be actual fair dinkum rehabilitation. I'm sorry, but "a rehabilitation program for male adolescents about positive sexuality" equals bullshit, in my mind. While I'm not going to fall for the newspapers' sensationalism and scream for the death penalty, I don't think 3-6 months in a jail/youth detention facility could really be a bad thing.
As Frank said above, none of us have sat in on the case and heard all the evidence. Regardless, there seems to be a justified feeling in the community that judges are too lenient on this kind of thing.

Mate, I am all for rehabilitation, but I also believe there has to be an adequate deterent against commiting crimes.
