Michael Hutchence didn't kill himself, says Simon Le Bon

DURAN Duran's Simon Le Bon doubts suicide was the cause of death for his friend Michael Hutchence, found dead in a hotel room 10 years ago this month.

Speaking on the eve of the 1980s supergroup's comeback tour, Le Bon said he had learned a lot about life, music and the dangers of drugs after losing friends like Hutchence and the INXS frontman's partner Paula Yates three years later.

Le Bon believes Hutchence would not have taken his own life, suspecting instead drugs played a part of his death.

"I don't believe for a minute Michael committed suicide," Le Bon said in an interview.

"I lived with him for a few months years ago and he loved life, women and drugs. He lived it to the full, there's no way he'd have wanted to end it all."

Hutchence, 37, was found dead, hanging from his belt on the back of a door in his room at the Ritz Carlton, now the Sir Stamford Double Bay, on November 22, 1997.

I just heard.
Micheal was auditioning for a new job and they told him that he had to die or not get the gig.
He protested, but was told that the prospective employer could ask for this under the new Work(No)Choices legislation.

You could have just said that with the workchoices legislation he was tied up in knots he couldn't get out of and the door to any avenue of appeal was shut and he was therefore choked.
