Just a note to say how great it was to here the original tune Goodbye Dolly Gray blasted around the ground on Anzac Day with the footage that then led directly into the current Collingwood theme song. Great work. Would love to hear that more often as it really got the Maggie inside firing (not that i needed any more motivation). It really made u think about Collingwood of the past right through to Collingwood of today (including those soldiers who went off to fight for their country).

great stuff! here are the lyrics:

I have come to say goodbye, Dolly Gray,
It's no use to ask me why, Dolly Gray,
There's a murmur in the air, you can hear it everywhere,
It's the time to do and dare, Dolly Gray - so

Goodbye Dolly I must leave you, though it breaks my heart to go,
Something tells me I am needed at the front to fight the foe,
See - the soldier boys are marching and I can no longer stay,
Hark - I hear the bugle calling, goodbye Dolly Gray.

Can't you hear the sound of feet, Dolly Gray,
Marching through the village street, Dolly Gray,
That's the tramp of soldiers' feet in their uniforms so neat,
So - goodbye until we meet, Dolly Gray. Goodbye Dolly Gray.

"..we flew at them as a hawk to his prey, passed through them in the disordered state in which they were, separated them into two distinct parts and then tacked upon their largest division.." -- Captain Cuthbert Collingwood, 1797

You know i shake my head in disbelief at times, the money this club could make from mercandising is unbelievable, how many of us would buy a cassette of 'good bye dolly gray'followed by our club song 'good old collingwood for ever', or even produce a poster of players walking off the ground after that great win 'PIES TRIUMPH ANZAC DAY 2002' they would sell shit loads, remember the video YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE featuring the premiership, darren millanes funeral and shots of collingwood supporters at the footy unashamedly crying, again they would sell shit loads, the things they could produce and sell is never ending but all we look at at our merchandise shop is the same old boring bottles of wine, players nagnets and clothing!!
i have seen pictures of english soccer clubs mercandising shops and they are thucking huge.

1892 _ 2002... THE PROUDEST JOURNEY IN FOOTBALL CONTINUES, WITH ARMS LOCKED TOGETHER,WHILST MARCHING SIDE BY SIDE, WE WILL FOREVER STAND AS ONE TO SUPPORT OUR BELOVED COLLINGWOOD FOOTBALL CLUB, it's more than just a club it's a way of life !

Re: Dolly Gray.

As Ed won't do it I will;

Thanks to Mike for getting a copy of Dolly Gray to CFC to be used in this most extraodinary way.

For those of you who weren't at the footy on Anzac Day or who didn't hear these tracks when I posted them a few months ago - here they are again (RealAudio format):

1901 version - (rallying war song)

1904 version - (war's over - this version has an extra verse and is more of a lament)
