The trouble with this kind of thing is that it takes an issue that many people are still unsure about, and shoves it right in their faces.
Where do you draw a line? would it, for example, be acceptable if this woman was a pre-op transsexual?
Of course it could just be pure bigotry on the part of these police officers, or they could simply be uncomfortable with the situation. Do they have a right to feel this way? Or, more relevantly, does it really matter?
Personally, I tend to agree with DTM. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

They should be more worried if it was a bloke peering over the stalls for a quick peek...or in the dressing room part a male hiding in there to cop a peek...but is it the fact that she was once a he, or that she is a lesbian?
A tad bit childish, she's now woman, and well it's just childish really.. _________________ Ðavâgé

Her being a lesbian has got absolutely no relevance to this, and i have no idea why it was brought up in the article.
She's a woman, she should continue to use the female bathrooms.
Those women who think she should use the "disabled toilets" are completely out of line, and maybe the entire police force should be required to complete the Ally training course.
It was great for me, and is (I think) a fantastic iniative they've got going over at ANU. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks... - Eugene Debs |

Women are funny critters.
A similar issue happened where I worked a few years ago. I remember talking to a few women who were adamant that because the person "used" to be a man, they didn't want to share the toilets with her.
Considering that Women used closed cubicles, so there's nothing to see anyway (unlike the urinal where blokes just let it hang out) I really fail to see the issue why they're concerned.
And as far as the lesbian bit, get over yourself. Women go to women only Gyms and get changed there. How do they know who's the lesbian and who's not. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Honesty. She hides nothing.
Might make a few of her collegues feel uneasy when they are talking business in "the office". _________________ Born, Live and Die a Magpie |
