Bomb found at Portsea Pier

A BOMB, thought to be unexploded military ordnance, has been found under Portsea Pier by two amateur divers. The pier was sealed off.
The pier, popular with divers, was sealed off after two amateur divers found it buried in sand and weed about noon.
Victoria Police search-and-rescue divers were called in to examine the badly corroded device, which was poking out of the sea bed.
A police guard was put on the pier. Navy clearance divers were expected to try to remove the bomb today.
"We're not sure whether or not the bomb is active but we are taking due care," said Sgt Vic Velthuis, of the police search-and-rescue squad.
