One thing that I remember about Chris Curran was his hardness at the ball. He was a midfielder, who had a fair share of injuries, but showed heart when he played. Bit like Tarks in his size and shape, never showed his true potential due to chronic ankle problems.

Unlike another player Terry Keays, around the same era, was an outstanding junior, but thought the AFL would be easy. Had more potential than most, but wasted it.

cheers bj, nice one!

would people be interested in me plucking random ex players out of thin air and reminiscing over them? maybe start a post every few days...?

remember their highs and lows...maybe u loved them/hated them. maybe u thought they were de-listed or traded unfairly. maybe u know them personally...

could make summer slightly more interesting as we aren't playing...

just a thought..

Just 44 years old. Way too young!

RIP Chris and deepest sympathies to the Curran family.

Can’t find anything official about this, but if this is true it’s extremely sad. Chris Curran was a fine player; who played in an unfortunately bad era for the Pies. He played under Tony Shaw as coach and Nathan Buckley as Captain. He was a mainstay of our side for several seasons. All his home game footy was played at Vic Park. All that aside, it’s way too young to die at 44. Anyone who wore the black and white stripes has my utmost respect.
