Unfortunately, I'm already enrolled, but I think paying the fine would be a better option!

This is not quite right.

He failed to factor in the 2 hours we have to wait in line just to get our names crossed off the list.

We don't actually vote anymore. We just make sure our names are crossed off the list, then submit blank voting slips. Afterall, that is our democratic right, isn't it?

The day my vote actually goes to the person I voted for is the day I vote properly.

If I wanted my vote to go to, for example, the ALP, I would vote for the ALP. However, if I vote for the local no-name, my vote then becomes a preferential vote, and goes to someone I DID NOT vote for.

I would rather my vote be counted as informal.

I go to vote in the community centre 100 metres from my house. Wander over when I remember, straight in, ticked off, vote straight out, 10 minutes max.

I'm in a strong labour seat, so I don't think whatever I do will make much difference.

I'm in a labor seat as well, though I have only heard of the labor candidates I have no idea who the hell the Libs in this seat are they are never around it seems. Though the Clarence Independents have been dropping junk mail in my letter box the last few days...

There is no way known im paying any fine to give back to them... blah... even if you go register and write micky mouse on your voting slip... better than paying money to them Dale.

That's what I think anyway...lol

Maddy, whilst I'm receiving a Government handout (DSP), I've got no intention of giving any of it back to them.

I said that I do attend the polling booth to get my name crossed off, and therefore, it shows that I have voted.

How I vote and what I do with the ballot papers is then entirely up to me.

Once your name is on the electoral role, it's just like Herpes, it's there for life!

I think it's about $120 fine if you are on the role, but don't vote. I just go in, get my name crossed off, then thank my mother for the rabbit.

My name disappeared from the electoral roll in about 1993...wasn't listed in my old electorate , or my new one. A couple who I'm close friends with, had the same problem...We were pretty radical in our views, and active as well. They shafted us.

The system's broken....and I'm very happy that I don't have to vote for it.
