I'm on the Bigpond extreme package, and to upgrade to the higher speed all I had to do was reset my modem. No additional charge or change of plan.

Ran a speed test before using one of the speedtest sites. Download speed of 3mbps and upload speed of 1mbps. Pretty happy with that considering the max speed quoted is never what you actually get.

I pay $70 per month. Speed is throttled after 10 gig but no additional charges. Might not suit someone who does a hell of a lot of downloading, but I rarely get close to the 10 gig limit.

I got the Motorola SBG 900 wireless modem. Just pull the power plug out, wait 10 seconds the plug it back in.

lol, I should've figured it was that simple stui Embarassed

Downloads stayed pretty much the same for me but my uploads increased by about 400% on average Shocked

The Melbourne server where I'd normally test was down so I used the one in Canberra, that may've affected the download result, I'm not sure

All in all averaging speeds of around 20 000 kbps / 1100 kbps Very Happy

far out, we get robbed over here something shocking.

d/load: 1676 kb/s
u/load: 118 kb/s

it's been well documented and publicised we have 3rd world broadband.

$60.00 for 10g with telecom which is telstra equivalent.

one thing though, i'll miss the free local calling charge.

I pay $60 pm with Internode on ADSL2 - 20GB, plus I'm close to the exchange so speed is around 23mbps.

Telstra is a ripoff. Stear clear, at all costs.

double what you get, no limits/throttles £14.99 a month, but there are better deals around I'm led to believe.

Sky (satelleite TV) do a free 2mb connection for subscribers, i think an 8mb costs a fiver and 16mb a tenner.

We've never had download caps here..... but the agin, the govt. here has been a little more clued up on internet/digitl thangs than its counterpart down under.

It costs more for the backhaul to Australia than it does to the UK Dave.

True Joel, but that really doesn't have much to do with the lme-o digital policies introduced by the present govt (and seemingly written by/for the 'old' media owenrs!)
