At the ripe old age of 35 am I old fashioned in still believing a good handshake speaks volumes about your character?

I make some of my friends shake my hand again if it is limpwristed and weak.

I'll go with you there Jock. I like a good firm handshake where the cleft between forefinger and thumb locks in. I throttle back a fair bit if I'm shaking hands with a woman but still firm.

The limp, wet fish handshake is a shocker.

The person who grabs your fingers and won't let you shake properly I distrust.

The person who tries to make it into a test of strength by squeezing too hard, I label as an overly competitive egotist.

Likewise the freak who holds out their hand palm facing down in some dominance/submissive power play bullshit.

i have a sore hand at the moment at the base of my thumb........and boy does it hurt when people shake my hand!!! So, at the moment, i'm doing the hold my hand back and only let the fingers part of my hand in the shake type......sort of limp wristed.

It's funny how people are now shaking women's hands more and more even when they are meeting them in a social situation.

I was told by my grandad when I was 13 that my handshake was too weak.

So, since that point I've tried to put a little more effort into it.

Not a fan of the finger crunchers though. Razz

i don't shake hands with females unless it's a business meeting type of thing, then i'll shake their hand.

What's in a handshake?

Well at work it's usually dirt and grease. After hours it's usually the dirt and grease that was too stubborn to get out Mad Razz Wink

I did marketing at tafe and one of the tutorial teachers taught us how to shake hands.I nearly crushed the poor blokes hand,my dad taught me young how to shake hands with people, ive intimidated quite a few blokes in job interviews with my hand shake.Had one ask me if i was actually a male Confused needless to say i told him where to stick his position...
