Rudd is as conservative as Howard so nothing will change except the name of the party in charge.

Sorry for being so late. The closest description I can come to to describe what I think Omar's politics are would be idealistic socialism with a touch or anarchist for flavour.

That's probably wrong and I'm not having a dig but that's the opinion I've formed.

As far as Rudd and the Polls, I'm niot sure if you'd call it blowing a lead if they lose. If that poll was uniformly representative of the voting pattern accross all seats in the country, Labour will win by a landslide.

But Polls are a small sample only, and it won't be uniform. Some seats will get a swing to Labour but stay Liberal. Some may get a swing the other way.

I still think that the coalition will win but with a reduced majority. If that does happen, it will be fascinating to watch to see if Labour self destructs yet again or whether Rudd has the goods to conduct himself as a viable opposition leader over a full term in opposition where he'll have to do more than just promise buckets of cash and investigations into everything, lose the "small target" approach and actually show people what he really stands for (if anything).

I wouldn't put the champagne back in the cellar just yet but maybe put it in the fridge rather than on ice, there's still a way to go.

The only polls that seemingly matter are the ones that are open on election day, I am thinking that some voters are still yet to decide if Howard will serve the full term or that Costello will take over, as it appears a lot do not like him. Even in his party there are claims no one likes him, Phil Cleary (Social, and VFL Commentator.) seemed to think the Libs might do well with a change of leader going into the election, but I am not sure that it would work.

If Labor was to win I would think it might be closer then the polls that have been going would suggest, unless the opinion of him being "too old" is accurate and people really wanting a change then Rudd and his party has a good chance of a massive win.

But like Geelong, the Labor party haven't got it all wrapped up yet, they still need to do a lot of hard work before it's all over.

Stui, I thought the same a while back and am now convinced Howard is gone. He cannot attack Krudd on his political views in most cases as they are the same as his. Hence I see Krudd has grabbed the conservative vote now. The swinger voter has always got Howard over the line, Race card, interest rates etc. He has always pulled something out of the hat. He is no longer in a position to pull something out of thin air. People are hurting financially and will vote against the Government. The old line that under Labour interest rates where this high is falling on deaf ears now. Jeff Kennet had a huge budget surplus, he had the Cain Kirner spiel and still lost the election as people where hurting in their hip pockets. Howard’s top adviser who helped him win the previous elections is no longer working for him. He use to read the poll’s etc brilliantly and so much so Beazley and Latham killed their own campaigns. Rudd is doing what is required and that is saying very little and while they are way out in front there is no need to say anything. The Liberals are attacking Rudd personally as they see his arrogance as his week point. Australians in general do not like personal attacks in politics and for the Liberals to plan their attack on his arrogance I find laughable considering how arrogant Costello and Howard are. They are in trouble, back benchers are rebelling as their cushy jobs are now disappearing. They are truly imploding. All the dollars they are spending will not save them.

Howard is out of touch on many things like the Cost of living and just basics as food and petrol, Uranium Sales to India and now Russia, War in Iraq, Work Choices, Job losses to China and there comes a time when people want a change. Labour will not win the election; Howard will lose it and his seat in the process. Then we have the question what does Rudd bring to Government? My answer to that is not a dam thing; nothing will change whilst Big Business dictates policy in this country.

Problem is, nothing will ever change with the politicians, it seems they have the same claims and nothing major ever gets done. Might as well have a bunch of people sitting around making the final decisions on the running of Australia...

Watching the polls at the moment, is like watching paint dry. Who gives a rats arse to be honest. The fact that you only really have the choice of Labor, or Liberal - both moronic governments with no real hard policies, bores me to death. I'm going to move into a cave, start up my own government, that requires all men to walk around naked, and women can whip them as much as they want, and straight couples will be looked down on, whilst gay couples are more recognisable. Eat that Johnnie and Kevvie.

Howard is dead in the water and we are about to witness a 1996 style slaughter of truly magnificant proportions. Good riddance to a man and government that has managed to bring out the absolute worst in this country over the past 11 years. Yes Rudd is conservative, but he is not a down in the gutter bigot. To me that makes the change more than worthwhile and something to truly celebrate.
