Post subject: A huge dissapointment ! | |

Another dissapointment ah well at least where not immune to dissapointment they seem to happen on a regular basis nowadays.
What a night it could of been for the collingwood football club and all of us supporters. Im not going to shitcan anyone but i can tell ya and i know i dont have the right to speak on behalf of anyone else here on nicks board, but right at this moment loyality passion and committment all them things that have kept us going is very much being sorely tested.
And now for the next 7 days we gotta put up with all the crap that will come from carlton supporters thats the bit that is really going to hurt. It was a night that broke our hearts in more ways than one,and to be honest its going to be bloody hard ( for us supporters) to fire up for next weeks game against hawthorn, oh well i guess a lot of questions were answered tonight!! I go to bed with a heavy heart.

As usual, done the Sgt Schultz as far as the game goes...(see nothing..hear nothing), but its a result that hacks me off...bloody disappointing, and as Joffa says, how many times do we have to go thru this?...I won't have to walk thru a week of scum supporters giving me the raz, but I been there, and hope you lot bear up...as Foxy has succinctly pointed out...it's only round 3, 19 to go.
Alf, don't start the countdown yet!
crikey, I hope this starts the fire that gets us to the finals and beyond....only positive I can get out of it now.
Just watched Millwall have a good win, but i'd swap a zillion of those to rewrite last nites score...
To the folks on Chat, sorry I missed it, was on a slow train to Leeds kind of
for ck_nd, got you a lovely recipe up..

After such a build up it was such a disappointing result for all and sundry involved in the Collingwood Football Club. I can't wait for round 18 where we will extract revenge on the dirty slime that is known as the Carlton Football Club.

not only did we lose, but a brawl erupted shortly after the final siren in the standing room area in Bay M4 of the southern stand. my mate and I were seated about 2 metres from this, with only a flimsy fence separating us. we couldn't get out because the exit was blocked by the fights. it lasted only a few minutes but it was the most full on fight that I've personally seen at the footy, and the first time that I felt for my personal safety.
I think the MCG needs to get rid of this standing room area. it's like a magnet for drunken idiots. the worst thing was, there were a few people in wheelchairs who were seated just in front of this area. thankfully, they left minutes before the brawl erupted.
this crap only ever happens for carlton games!!

Well I count myself lucky that I was 8 metres away from it and otherwise preoccupied informing the Carlton cheersquad that they better enjoy it as they won't win any more for the season when it all eruppted. Junky was right, unlike a melee there were actually a few being thrown and I couldn't get out either.

i have to say i admire the optimism of people like joffa. to put so much into supporting your club and then to have your hopes shot down like that time and time again must be incredibly frustrating. being interstate is hard given i desperately want to be there to scream out my frustration(the tv cops it instead) but to devote much of your time and effort and i guess money and then be positive about the club despite feeling what we're all feeling is fantastic. onya joffa.

Just to clarify something ...
I was standing in M4 for the entire match. The usual chant's going on for most of the match, and with 2 minutes to go, a dozen or so Collingwood supporters from M3 decided to venture over a throw a few punches.
Now I know that Carlton v Collingwood crowds have been well behaved over the past decade, but to come across to M4 with the intention of fighting is riciculous.
It was instigated by Collingwood people, and the frustrating it about it all was that a couple of Carlton supporters got locked up because a select few couldn't bear the thought of going down with out a fight.
Disgusting effort anyone standing at M3 should be ashamed of yourselves. Weak as piss.
Sorry to put a negative spill on the events of last night. I'm sure that Collingwood will hit back harder than ever come Round 18.

well noodles if that's the case then it's pretty stupid of those c'wood supporters, you come to the footy to watch the game not to fight. but the point is that this situation should not have occurred. the only way I can think of to solve this problem is to get rid of those damn standing room areas, esp. when innocent people, kids, the elderly and the disabled are put at risk, and the exits are blocked. I don't think this is a knee jerk reaction, most people in M4 near the fight would probably have agreed.

The banner was a ripper
SIDE A
THE CHEER SQUAD IS CHANTING
EDDIES GOING NUTS
ANOTHER 1300 HUNDRED REASONS
WHY THEY ALL HATE OUR GUTS.
SIDE B
COLLINGWOOD IS COMMITTED TO WINNING
CARLTON IS COMMITTED TO LOSING
WEEK AFTER WEAK AFTER WEAK !!
I actually kept a very small piece of the banner as some sort of memento on our 1300th win but its now in the bin.

I'm disgusted, but it still doesn't give people the right to start throwing punches. There were also some gutless punches been thrown from behind from supporters of both sides.
Only took the police 4 minutes to make an appearance. They were terrible in handling the situation and need a good hard look at themselves as well. It's as if they couldn't be bothered filling in the paperwork as a result of an arrest. Should have been at least 10 people in handcuffs.
And to you Joffa, I fully understand your predicament. Don't sweat it. Every team has their element of dickhead supporters.

Yeah, that was disappointing and I'm glad I didn't have access to the net straight after the game or I might have been typing something very different to what I am now!
I've just watched the reply of the game and I thought it didn't look quite as bad as it did watching it at the ground, or maybe it's just that my shattered heart has healed a little bit this morning!
I thought the majority of our guys actually put in a tough effort but we let ourselves down with poor disposal and expensive turnovers. And don't forget we were EXTREMELY undermanned, both with players out injured, players on the ground not fully fit and others receiving an injury during the match. We also came up against a foe who were a lot more desperate to redeem themselves than we were.
Saying that, there are still no excuses. We didn't play good football and we have a lot of improving to do if we are going to play finals football this year. The players will be just as or even more disappointed than we are (and in a lot more pain after such a physical battle - at least we didn't have to sit in a bucket of ice after the game!), but we need some guys to really stand up and show what they are capable of.
I think we're all under-estimating our injury woes at the moment. If we can get an injury-free and match fit, full team on the ground, we'd see some vastly different results than we are at the moment.
The light at the end of the tunnel is looking a long way off but it's still shining!
GO PIES!

No wonder it took the police 4 minutes to get to the M3/M4 brawl. They were all up the Ponsford End scrutinising the Collingwood supporters. There was no love lost there either, but nothing to warrant the S11-type presence that they had. I think we can expect the SOGGIES in full riot gear next week.
