Everyone in Newcastle, myself included, haven't had the wool pulled over our eyes for years that Andrew Johns was doing drugs. It's nothing unusual, same with 2 Horse Racing Jockey's that are from Newcastle, and are very well known throughout NSW & VIC.
I know this, because I used to go to the same dealer. I've never hidden the fact that I used to take drugs, a lot. I'm past that, moved on.
The majority of Newcastle thinks Andrew Johns is a stuck up, self centered moron anyway.
All I can say is, at least he had the balls to admit it on national television, and went into very fine detail about his issues. That takes a lot of balls, considering, his title as the greatest player in NRL history (besides Wally), will now be revoked by a lot of the public.

I've smoked dope and a couple of times tried hash but never have and never will touch any of the amphetamine based stuff or heroin or coke or anything else.
I don't condemn people who have tried it, I'm close to someone who does speed occasionaly and all I say is "you should get off that shit before it kills ya" and we move on. No lectures, no arguments no rift. We disagree thats all.
Good on Johns for coming out albeit after he was sprung and probably realised that his initial defence wouldn't hold up for long and it was better to out himself before someone else did but lets not try to argue he did nothing wrong.

Good onya Dave. I smoke and I'll tell anyone it's a damn site easier to never start than it is to quit.
Kids think they can quit whenever they want but time creeps away quickly. I ran into a kid recently who used to live nearby. He's 20 now and used to pinch smokes when he was 15. He was a little shocked when we were talking and he realised he'd been smoking for 5 years and is addicted.

The old 'I've got depression' defence.
It seems that getting traded from Hawthorn to North Melbourne does wonders.
These should be made available over the counter, then nobody will get depressed.

| Haven't had one for 16 months after smoking a pack and a half for nearly 20 years and I'd still give my left nut for one. Getting off the rotten bloody things wasn't much fun (3 nights shaking on the couch after going cold turkey) but having a nine year old constantly saying 'but you promised' with tears in her eyes kind of helped. |
