Post subject: Californication - the dirtiest program to grace TV?? | |
|
Anyone catch this show on Monday night, for those who love a good laugh, and aren't put off easily (by swearing and sexual references) this show is for you! Minus the nudity the show actually has some really good dialogue, the funnist scene is coming up next week, i won't give it away but it involves getting high in his ex wifes bedroom, very funny indeed.
Obviously some Australian's take the show to seriously and articles in todays paper just proove that.

Quote: | Californication -- with almost one million viewers -- opened with actor David Duchovny's character walking into a Catholic church, ditching his cigarette in the holy water font then having a sexual encounter with a nun on the altar.
The first episode of the racy comedy featured four sex scenes -- one involving violence and statutory rape -- copious nudity, teenage drug use and constant foul language in its 32 minutes. |

Quote: | WHEN a reviewer describes a show as the "dirtiest program to grace TV without requiring a credit card number first", you wonder whether the show can possibly live up to the hype.
But Californication is just that -- shocking.
Within minutes of the opening credits, the show will upset Christians, family associations and conservative feminists.
Without giving too much away, let's just say the first scene involves a nun, a church and sex. |
I know there will be some who get offended by the show, but it's pretty easy just not to watch it. The ratings suggest there is room on our tv's for it. _________________ Like Nicks, why not donate

Thought it was very funny actually.
Definitely pretty raunchy with heaps of swearing and nudity, but I don't think they will keep this up for the rest of the season - probably more of the instant shock factor...
Sex and the City was pretty raunchy at times, but not always. Same with the Secret Life of Us... _________________ I am Dick Pratt's lovechild... He disowned me because I support the Pies! |

Funny how people seem to think that something involving a nun, the church and sex is more offensive than something involving a priest, a young boy and sex! _________________ Whale

I thought the opening sequence getting the BJ from the Nun (then waking up to find it was only half a dream) was a pisser. So was the "the little man in the boat is right here"
The part where he walked over to his 12 year old daughter who was about to try a bong, pushed the bloke who was offerring it away, picked her up over the shoulder and walked out of the party with her over his shoulder would be what most parents would feel like doing in the same situation.
Wait and see how it holds up as far as plot. Gratuitous nudity will only get so far without a plot. Anyone remember "Chances"?? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Oh so true!
I loved Californication. There is a witty subplot that is linking the whole thing together. Very cerebral despite the T & A.
I do not agree with the comment that it is the dirtiest show to air on TV. It may well be the dirtiest on commercial TV, but those who think it is the dirtiest on TV have never watched SBS.
Now there's a smutty channel! God love 'em.

Post of the year
On a more serious note, I don't really get what the issue is - they've had nudity and sex in films for 40 years now... why is it such a big deal that it's on a TV show now? (and that is hardly anything new either)
I probably won't bother, although David Duchovny's not a bad actor. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Give it a go David, like member said, the plot isn't too bad on different levels. If they keep it up, it might be a very good show. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Good to see that self appointed saviour of our morals is at it again.

I wonder who elected him? Typical opinionated journo.
Of course a couple of paragraphs in and you see the real reason for his strident tirade.
Can you guess what his true objective is? |
