Just got an email from the netball association head coach inviting the red headed chick to second round of trials for U15 rep teams. 1st round was last weekend and it is the first time she has tried out for any rep netball.
She will be very happy when she finds out.

Apart from "cheap", what does it have that, eg, Port Douglas doesn't have?

Its cheaper to fly to bali if you get the right deal. The hotels are far cheaper, the service is amazing, the people are beautiful, top quality food at less than 1/2 Aussie prices.
You just got to look past the grot, and the inhumane living conditions of the citizens there. I can't, but I do see the attraction, it's a nice cheap relaxing laid back holiday. Port Douglas costs an arm and a leg! And the service ain't as genuine, and costs far too much!

But not all of it. It's a different country, different culture, different experience, and the staff I found anyway, really want to help you have a good time. You don't get the arrogance you get here!
not sure how Hawaii compares, but I cant wait!! the attraction for me: those fantastic drawling accents, fresh fruit, beautiful beaches, great shopping ( victorias secret, here I come!!) its costing probably twice what bali did earlier this year, but we are island hopping too! We went on the way home from our USA honeymoon, hopefully it's still beautiful.

It was a great place 30 years ago. I can't go back now because I'm sure I'd cry.

Went back to Cairns after 20 years, had the same reaction. 30years ago it was glorious, now it's like the Gold Coast just expanded up there. Just another tourist trap.

Pretty much. I got return airfares for $198. Last month I stayed in an amazing private villa that when split between 4 cost $125 a night.
This time I'm going by myself so will go back to the resort I usually stay in. 5 stars for about $180 a night. You just can't get that anywhere in Australia.
I've had big holidays to the US and Europe a few times. But sometimes I want to go somewhere and switch off and do nothing. Just sit and read by the pool all day, early nights and reboot.
Generally the only people I speak to who don't like Bali are ones who have never been and get their opinion from shows like "What really happens in Bali" which is a load of shit once you move 5 minutes out of Kuta.
