Hey all, well it's a sultry Cairns like evening here in Locust Grove, Georgia! Fantastic plane ride with Qantas, (I complemented a hostie while I was waiting for the loo, next thing you know I had 1/2 a cup of scotch for me, another for hubby, a couple of coke zeros, Tim tams, cheese and bikkys, and M &Ms for the three of us delivered to our seats! They just kept coming it was so nice!)

No hassle with connecting to a domestic flight, picked up the car I booked (only 8000 on the clock) and the hotels not bad! Big chicken salad for dinner (huge actually!) at IHOP, a visit to a very cool booze shop, a shower, an American honey, a chat to daughter still in Melbourne and it's good night! Cheers

Well done to your daughter WPT! Awesome effort.

Let me know if Georgia is worth a visit.

Send Hubby on a scouting mission to the local strip clubs for me. Wink

I would strongly recommend against travelling to Georgia - after the song, the actual place would have to be a complete letdown.

Haha

Well I finally got to see the BLT at Noah's ark today, what an amazing place. So much good work rescuing bears and tigers etc some really horrible abuse cases.

Not far from there is Senoia home of the walking dead! Got some cool pics, including with those "don't dead, open inside" door!

Then we drove 300 odd miles (I drove 100!) through Georgia, South Carolina and we are in Charlotte, North Carolina for the night, cheers!

Great stuff.

I'd love to do something like that drive over there but I just can't do it. They're all nucking futs and everything is back to front.

Believe it or not, wpt, but I couldn't find a Dr John version on youtube. Can't remember exactly what's there but it includes Hoagy Carmichael's orchestra, Uncle Ray, Billie, Satchmo, Tim Hardin, the Keith Jarrett Trio, Jimmy Reed (with Chet Atkins watching), Arlen Roth, Cold Chisel (well, Ian Moss and Don Walker) and the Spencer Davis Group.

Yeah you really need a navigator, the freeways can be 8 plus lanes wide! The hardest thing is remembering which way to look when you walk across the road! And when you drive around corners, which side to go on to! Oh and speed limits appear to be suggestions only! I mainly drove around 60-65, but I hit 78mph once passing a truck!

A good friend of mine lives in Charlotte. Just moved from Tampa Bay. He works for Immigration. I would love to go watch the Durhum Bulls.

Yeah, I got a taxi from San Fran airport to my hotel. The posted limit was 60mph, he was doing 85mph and getting passed. Shocked

That would be good. We dropped by the Charlotte speedway, did the tour, and it included 2 hot laps in the tour bus!thks nutty woman hit 75mph on the 25 degree banked track, in a mini van! We were an inch from the fence! I snagged the front seat, and videoed it, it was awesome. The place is ginormous, just totally amazing. Then we drove up to The West Virginian border, along the Appalachian trail, then on to Washington DC. It's really just incredible when you drive over the Pontiac and there is all the memorials! Going to tour it all tomorrow, cheers
