Generally I can't stand the tennis apart from a few matches. I was lucky enough to watch the last part of the 4th set of Nadal V the Bulgarian in the prelim as well as the last set. Great viewing.
I'll be barracking for Nadal. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Days off:
Just worked:
24/1 2pm -10pm with Police
25/1 2pm -10pm with Police
26/1 2pm - 10 pm with police then straight to overtime night shift (someone called in sick) 10pm - 7.30am (10 hr break)
27/1 return to work at 5.30 pm & work to 10pm (ED)
28/1 2-10pm with Police
Now 2 days off, glory be.
Is 9.5 hours at double pay worth it? about $850 gross but I couldn't leave a shift unfilled at work it looks bad & the work will be murder for the am shift _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

How the hell can you be concentrating properly when you pull a 10pm to 7:30 am straight after a shift? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Just a bit slower.
I'm not operating machinery.
Listening is easy & when I see people there are fixed outcomes / options for consumers (basically):
1. Go Home no follow up
2. Go home GP follow up
3. Go home Pte follow up that was pre arranged etc
4. Go home get crisis team to follow up same day or next day or when ever
5. Remain in ED or short stay & be reviewed by a Psychiatrist later
6. Be admitted voluntarily
7. Be admitted involuntarily
The questions to be asked or the information to be gathered has become intuitive through repetition
Collateral history is king.
The other part of the job is to ensure the ED doctors do their job & not overlook the medical parts.
For drunk or ice affected folk we have standard ways to manage especially if they are acute & apart from assisting the person I'm assisting the staff
That night there was a bit of sorting to do, only 2 full assessments & 2 others to deal with. Both assessments were sent home with community based mental health follow up - risk had reduced. I assisted with 2 medical admits that were psych but needed little in the scheme of things. & about 2-3 others that were for assessment by morning shift but gathering data.
It wasn't busy but constant going which keeps you going as well as 7-11 coffee _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

It wasn't busy but constant going which keeps you going as well as 7-11 coffee | you would still want to be extra careful getting home xxx _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Pity Nadal challenged that call.
Made for a strange and slightly subdued ending. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
