Just read a report on fox sports.Article stateted that fraser is in doubt to take his place on the field for friday night's game, because of back complaints.
Shiteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Looks like bryan and richards have to play.
We could be in trouble.
We must, i repeat wemust ,get a strong ruckman next year.Poor josh
has carried the ruck on his own for too long.

Ray Charles could see this coming (no offence of course to OP)...but he was clearly injured last week. I was hoping he would get up...but if he doesnt, id much rather invoke as much of that beloved "underdog" tag that makes us win games by resting Josh and playing ONE of Bryan or Richards.

In fact, my vote is Richards. Play him in the ruck, pretend he's awesome and tell him he will be rucking solo all day. Let's see what he's got.

Last game i can remember Richards rucking solo was against Port Adelaide and Carlton in 2004....absolutley smashed a washed up Corey McKernan, and more than held his own against Brogan and Lade. Also got 30 HO's against the Swans, which was almost more than Ball and Doyle got combined.

You know, in the long term, this might not be such a bad thing. Josh is desperate for a rest, and I'll be very interested to see how Richards goes rucking most of the game. It'll be a huge test for him against Jeff White, one that will finally make or break his career at Pieland you would think.

Agree completely PP. There is no point making the finals if we arnt going to make an impact....we cannot make an impact without Josh being fit.

Ergo, theres no point winning THIS game if Josh isnt fit. Therefore take the risk, make SURE he is fit, and take the opportunity to give Richards a real test. We know Josh's rucking improved out of site once McKee was sidelined by rule changes....who knows, maybe Richards will improve a bit as well.

Richards played the whole game in the ruck for Willi last week. Gotch kept waiting for him to put his hand up for a rest and he didn't. Got something like 40 hitouts.

It's not just the ruck though, it's the stoppages we need to worry about - competitive tap work is fine, but when it gets to ground, we need to be hungrier and lock the ball down. McVeigh, Black, Scotland and Foley have killed us in the last few weeks.

That said, Richards and Bryan the Dream Team is scaring me...

Staying positive, staying positive!

Any more news on if MM is coaching this week?

give Josh a rest...i mean as someone said here, last game, he did infact look like his life was in the balance....

play Richards...to rotate with hmm...Rocca and Cloke in the ruck?
at least Richards might run White off his legs, Bryan would probably struggle to do that, but would match him for size, but not much else. i think we give Richards the opportunity, Gotchy said in his article bout willow on CFC that Richards was always complaining about not getting a full game...well now heres his chance.
i think the midfields just gotta b smart about it and read the ruck, OR
we throw Nick Maxwell as third man up in throws ins/ball ups, so hopefully he'll act as another rover???

Yeah im not really sure what i meant by that, thinking about it now. I think what i was getting at was that if we are going to have a REAL crack at the finals...we need Josh fit.

If we are just going to make it and give kids experience, then it doesnt really matter if we finish 5th or 8th or whatever because we won't be progressing too deep.

Im confident we will win the 1 extra game to lock up a finals berth, whether its this week, next week or the week after so i was of the opinion that Josh needs a rest now, even if it results in a loss this week.

But on that note im not convinced it will. Our players have a history of doing well when the gauntlet is thrown squarely at their feet. Im no fan if Richards...but play him, and him alone. Make the gutsy call and put ALL the boys under the pump and let them now that Josh Fraser will not be carrying them this week so they can expect to lose the clearances IF they dont get off their arses and help Richards out by sharking White as well as making the most of EVERY SINGLE TAP that Richards does get.

I thought your head would be spinning so fast at the idea of Richards and Bryan playing ruck that you wouldn't be able to type for a while. Wink
