One of my favourite songs from the greatest band of all time, Bananarama is about our Bobby.

It really sums up the whole feeling of three working class girls who have just finished making $quillion$ from singing Venus but realise it means nothing as they still yurn for something money can't buy.
It probably their most meaningfull song. We should sing it to Bob on Friday night, sort of serenade him, when we get well ahead of Melbourne. Imagine 100,000 Collingwood supporters singing Robert De Niro is waiting. A guy who has done everything would love our Club forever. It would be a special treat to him from the hearts of the Magpie faithfull.

The words go like this:-

Hopes dashed to the floor
Like shattered teenage dreams
Boys living next door
Are never what they seem

A walk in the park can become a bad dream
People are staring and following me
This is my only escape from it all
Watching a film or a face on the wall

Robert De Niro's waiting
Talking Italian
Robert De Niro's waiting
Talking Italian
Robert De Niro's waiting
Talking Italian
(Talking Italian)
Robert De Niro's waiting

I don't need a boy
I've got a man of steel
Don't come any closer
I don't wanna feel

Your breathing, your touching, but nothing's for free
I never want this to happen to me
Don't try to change me you're wasting your time
Now I've got something much better in mind

Robert De Niro's waiting
Talking Italian
Robert De Niro's waiting
Talking Italian
Robert De Niro's waiting
Talking Italian
(Talking Italian)
Robert De Niro's waiting

Perhaps he can start in the middle. He can use his Travis Bickle "you talkin' to me?" persona from Taxi Driver to intimidate the blue bloods.

Bananarama were only ever good as backup singers for Fun Boy 3 and Fun Boy 3 never as good as the Specials! Cool

A Message to you, Skaman...

It ought to be illegal to mention Bananarama and Fun Boy 3 in the same sentence as The Specials (and yes, I am aware of the irony of saying this while mentioning them in the same sentence).

A beautiful movie and great soundtrack, glad somebody else has seen it...she's just an absolute ripper of a movie.

Good movie, but I never quite got the ending, was all the events of the movie an opium induced dream?

I would have liked to have seen Pesci play a greater role also.

A movie where you just fell in love with the characters, kids growing up in the slums all mates, go to jail as juveniles, get together again when released.. go on there gangster ways, a very violent movie when considering it was made in 1984.

Favourite scene with flute music, when one of the young lads with a dime plans to have his first sexual experience....goes past a cream cake shop and decides his dime is better spent on a creamy ice cream bun....sitting on steps outside the girls appartment just loving his cream bun...wonderful wonderful moment in the film.

James Woods was also brilliant in this movie

lol, I've seen it like 8 times, absolute classic and one of my all time favs, it's a great story.
Love the use of the flute throughout the movie, very haunting and moving, it has a certain aura that I can't quite explain, almost magical. Cool

I'll let ya in on a secret Frankiboy...our very own skipper Nathan Buckley loves Gangster films, and i lent him this very movie and he absolutely loved it.....yeah very haunting good words mate.

This pic shows a young Noodles meeting his fete...
