was all decided 2 weeks ago, so there doesn't appear to be anything sinister behind the moves. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

Nothing sinister at all. A chance for a "normal" life. Wishing him and his family all the very best! _________________ Go Pies

Nothing sinister and not bad timing when you consider Brumby will have what, 3 years to make it his own before running into the next election.
2 by elections could be interesting though. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Not in those seats Stui. Albert Park and williamstown are two of the safest ALP seats in the state. Libs will be flat out finding a candidate without worrying about finding a good one. |

Well Im a bit sad to see them both go to be honest. Have always liked them both (as much as you can like a pollie! )
Looks like Brumby is a shoe-in to take over - and we'll have a Collingwood supporting premier!! |

yes, I wish both Bracksy and Thwaites all the best in their future endeavours. I've like Bracks as a Premier and I've ALWAYS liked Brumby, not only because he IS the best Treasurer the state has had (yes, yes, IMHO!), but he's a Collingwood Supporter AND he's a bit of alright thank you very much! _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

He realises that the economy, water restrictions, petrol prices and food prices are all massive problems and has resigned to the fact that he has caused it all and now cant be f'd helping Victoria. _________________ Like Nicks, why not donate

Was voted back in 8 months ago, and would win an election hands down if he had wanted to call one before today.
Victorians LOVE him.
Petrol prices? How?
Food prices? How? (I forgot, he caused the floods that killed the vegie crops, my apologies!)
Water restrictions? Shit, he caused floods and droughts! Messiah!
Good luck to him in his future endeavors. He has done the right thing by the Labour party by not holding on until the next election. And, the haters can believe it or not, he has done the right thing by Victoria by not continuing in the job when he no longer had his 100% commitment to give.
A 3 time elected Premier of Victoria. In the history books already. |

I want another election.I didn't vote for Brumby,I voted for Bracks.I know voting for Bracks was voting for Labor also and it is still a Labor government, but different leadership changes things dramatically. _________________ Collingwood:Not just a club, but a way of life!

In this case, how?
I think that Brumby has been a great performer over the years. If an election was held tomorrow, i'd vote for Brumby.
Remember, Steve Bracks had only been elected Leader of the ALP a few months before the election was held. At least this way, there's just over 2 years to get to know the new Premier. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

To be honest, I don't like the 'premier by default' circumstance. It should be the responsibility of the voting public to choose which leader AND party they want in power.
For instance, some people will vote for Liberal if Howard is there, but others won't if Costello takes over. |
