With due respect, I think by the time your kids hit 20, most of your work is done as a parent. They're passed the point of being told what to do, all you can do then is be available to help pick up pieces every now and then.
What I read was it's a combination of health and family things. Family doesn't just mean his kids, would also mean his wife I assume.
It would be a very stressful job that isn't remunerated all that well when you consider it's 24/7. If he's decided to go and get a life while he still can, good luck to him.
Bit of a kick in the guts for Vic Labor party but Brumby or whoever they pick would still have more personality than that cardboard cutout in charge of the Liberals.
