I get the point he was trying to make and, having been guilty of similar (at least in some eyes), his comment was clumsy, ham fisted and unnecessary.
you don't need a semi automatic rifle or shotgun to kill and injure lots of people. No shit Sherlock. But it does make it a lot easier.
Personally, i'd rather take my chances dodging a lunatic in a car than a lunatic with with a semi auto rifle.

I also find some of the holier-than-thou responses annoying plus some if the criticism the police but it doesn't matter when it is - too soon or too late - political point scoring on the back of tragedy is low.
Thoughts are with the families of the dead and injured.
I had a moment of panic when reading about the tragedy when I remembered the 19 year was heading into the city after visiting uni. Fortunately he was at the Spencer St end of town catching up with friends.

I was in the CBD yesterday lunchtime. First time for yonks, several blocks away from this stuff though.
Because the guy is from a middle eastern background, some on Twitter are alleging witnesses heard him yelling "Allah Akbah" as he drove around.
this wasn't a terrorist attack, just a drug f*cked bad cnut

Stupid people (& they get to vote too)
1. Talk back caller on 774 the other day re Bourke street:
Why didn't the police shoot the tyres?
You could see the headlines now: Police bullets ricochet & hit a baby near-by
2. The other day with the Police & a guy threatens suicide & is on top of an old warehouse. Lots of rubber neckers most with their f*cking mobiles filming: busy road, trams, cars, police, fire brigade, ambulance & me in my role to assess if the bloke comes down
Some in the crowd are taunting the fellow & egging him on. Police deal with it as best they could.
Another genius walks across the road & offers his serious advice: why don't the police get a dart gun & shoot a tranquilizer into him?
I want these dickwits locked up for sheer stupidity.

They should have a door on Tiger/lion enclosures labelled "instant reincarnation this way". let the idiots open it, walk in and get eaten. Saved money on feeding the animals and they get to have some fun too.

Shutdowns!
You would think the planners would get more organised, but no.
They buy a new chiller for our mill cooling system, about $40k worth. I know nothing about the job until the day before I have to install it.... no fittings to do the job..... look over there Skids.
Half a day to get a permit organised... it took me almost 3 days to do, what realistically, should be done in a day.
The mills were supposed to be running at 0600 today.... they're still not.

Baby dolphin dies after tourists take selfies with it
A BABY dolphin has died after it was kept out of the water so a mob of tourists could take selfies with it.
The tourists dragged the tiny mammal out of the water on Sunday in the seaside city of San Bernardo, south of Buenos Aires, Argentine newspaper La Capital reported.
The suffering calf died surrounded by a crowd of people trying to touch it and take selfies with it.
