^It wouldn't even be an acceptable T20 score. |

Coming home to the sound of water jetting out of a burst main just outside the back door. Rusty ol' gal steel pipe, yeh, no worries, the pressure from the water escaping cleared a path through the soil so pretty easy to get to. Called a plumber friend to have a look 'cos I just didn't have the time or energy to fix it - says he'll pop over in 30 min, no sweat.. Yeah, right! I knew I was in trouble when the 1st word he muttered when he saw it was ****. Anyway, I'll cut to the chase.. upon further inspection, I've got leaks everywhere under the house and it's like Lake Corangamite down there. The entire 50 odd yr old steel plumbing is pretty much rooted. Verdict - move out or find an alternate water source for the next 2 or 3 days and completely overhaul/replace the pipe work up to the mains! _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Ah, fkuc.
Look on the bright side, updating the pipes should add some value to the place if/when you want to sell and it's an opportunity to get a hotel room for a few days and treat yourself. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

uh oh... If your house is on stumps, hopefully you don't end up in same position as me - I also had a broken water pipe under my place. Got that fixed, no problems BUT the water has of course softened the soil which in turn is moving the stumps.
Now have constant creaks and many cracks appearing. Apparently will take a year or two to dry out completely so me & my creaks have to learn to co-exist (they're so loud sometimes it wakes me up!) |
