Staff in these settings can get so hardened to these events. Recently I had to ask a palliative care nurse to consider that my dying brother might be able to hear what she was saying given that he also had a mental illness and was clearly agitated. When he died an unthinking relative put something up on Facebook before I could get round to all the phone calls.

1061 I don't understand the issue. Is it to avoid relos finding out via Facebook if they happen to be like a friend of a friend or something? I don't get it. Especially texting workmates who I would assume would have an emotional connection to the residents who've passed away.

Good point,

My sisters were talking about mum, as she appeared to be asleep, but who knows? Better to be considerate and discreet. They cracked it when I said let's take this out to the hall.

Ps Hope it's getting easier for you, hasn't been long .xxxx

There are rules banning this sort of behaviour because it is incredibly insensitive to the family/s concerned.
Saying it was all some-one elses fault with no sign of regret, remorse or even a basic understanding of why these rules are there both dumb-founds and horrify's me.

if your happy and you know it clap your hands...

The text just read for example not using the actual name *john's gone*.

I've since been told the text was fine but person 1 who showed the RN the text could be in trouble for trying to get me into trouble and person 2 who was posting RIP on her FB could be in huge shit.

What pissed me off was finding out the hard way that these "friends" are just not.

Alerting a colleague that 'john's gone" via a private communication means like a text is fine. It's only a problem if you breach patient privacy, which IMO that wouldn't.

Posting anything on facebook about work where your employer is identified is fraught with danger. Posting up info about patients is quite potentially sackable.

Hmm, even if you don't get the boot, and they do, how can you work there now? Not a good situation big lesson learnt

That's true. And purposely getting others in to trouble is a bit high school!

But we've all done that shit!
