Jesus HAL, you are making sense! Yes, I agree. Early No Doubt was very Ska. They used to model themselves on the British Ska band The Selecter a bit and sung some of their songs. No Doubt were from Orange County in the States. Do you know any other Ska bands?

I love Arch Enemy! Machine head were good too and i missed most of Trivium waiting to buy the Arch Enemy T-shirt. Gee the teenagers love Trivium don't they.

Other bands I like (in no particular order)

Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Unearth, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for my Valentine (saw 'em live earlier in the year at billboards, they were great live), Metallica, Megadeth, Kiss, Slayer (saw them this year too at Vodafone arena, one of the best gigs ive been to), Morbid Angel, Sepultura, Soulfly, Pantera, Strapping young lad, Biohazard, Voice of Dissent, No Grace, Mid Youth Crisis, Strung Out, The Vandals, Guttermouth, Lagwagon, NoFX, No use for a name, and one for scar man...reel big fish, Probably heaps more I have forgotten to mention....You get the idea anyway, I like Metal and Punk (NOT EMO!!!)

Thats SKA-man Dave!!!! (even though I do have plenty of scars!) Mad , but hey , RBF are pretty cool. At least you have some taste! Wink

Hey Roddy, Fear Factory, Tool, Trivium, Machine Head, Ill Nino, Slayer, Static-X, Devildriver, Deftones, Killswitch, Hatebreed, Scar Symmetry, Mastodon etc etc is just not music. All they do is tune their guitars down so low so the strings don't fall off to get some sort of sound that is hurtfull to any guitarists ears. Personal choice for sure there, but you won't hear about them in 20 years. Razz Or maybe I am just getting to old. Razz

Nightwish should be good - Not sure about the new vocalist tho

Anette, while not as "operatic" as Tarja, is pretty good. What will be interesting is hearing her sing some of the old songs.

Yes you are getting old Culprit, they said the same thing about Beatles being 'devils music'. They are soft compared to todays standards.

A lot of good metal music is constructed around complex polyrhythyms and odd time signatures. Something the old folk cannot get a handle on. Wink

rofl, The most I do is tune my guitar a half step down to play some Van Halen and Thin Lizzy numbers. ah there is that age thing again. I could not abuse my 76 Les Paul the way that these young whipper snappers do. And like wtf 5 string bass guitars? I am just getting old. Get me a wheel chair will ya.

Yep, sorry Daniel. It was late at night. Thought it was Proto (Dave)...apologies!
As far as metal bands go, you cant beat Motorhead and Metallica (IMO).

Nice NP, very nice. I have at least 3 of those bands in my collection (true dinks!)

Bananarama is an interesting one. They started off being back up singers for Fun Boy 3 ex Specials. One of the girls married a skinhead. Hot little totties to boot.

...Im not telling the other 2 Embarassed (the shame)

Selling some of my rare punk and Oi music on ebay as we speak!

Keeping the Nana Mouskouri ones though Wink
